Understanding Medical Decisions Takes Centre Stage in Varun Khanna’s The Hope Code

Varun Khanna, Group Managing Director, Quality Care India Limited, begins the series with Dr Narottam Puri to discuss healthcare trust, medical information and patient decision making

Conversations around patient trust and healthcare decision making are moving into the digital space as healthcare leaders explore new ways to engage audiences on complex medical topics. Varun Khanna, Group Managing Director of Quality Care India Limited, has introduced a YouTube platform titled The Hope Code, designed to encourage deeper reflection on how individuals interpret medical information and navigate healthcare decisions.
The initiative seeks to bring together perspectives from across the healthcare ecosystem, including clinicians, healthcare administrators, policy experts, technology leaders and patient advocates. Through conversations and shared experiences, the platform aims to help audiences better understand the realities that shape healthcare systems and patient care.

The first conversation on The Hope Code will feature Dr Narottam Puri, a respected voice in Indian medicine. The discussion will explore themes such as trust in healthcare information, the challenges people face while interpreting medical advice and the importance of knowledge when making healthcare decisions.
The idea for the platform emerged from a common dilemma faced by patients and families during medical situations. Often the most difficult moments are not limited to receiving a diagnosis but occur during the uncertain period when individuals wait for clarity and struggle to understand the information presented to them.

Through this initiative, the platform aims to encourage individuals to pause, reflect on the information available to them and approach healthcare decisions with greater awareness and understanding.
Speaking about the initiative, Varun Khanna said the objective of the platform is to address the growing gap between the volume of healthcare information available today and people’s ability to interpret and trust that information.

“Today there is more healthcare content and data available than ever before, yet many people continue to struggle with identifying what information is credible and how it should be understood. The objective of The Hope Code is to create a space where perspectives from experienced voices in healthcare can help audiences navigate this complexity with greater clarity,” he said.
Reflecting on his experience in the healthcare sector, Khanna added that the journey from information to wisdom often requires experience and dialogue.

“Over the years, I have realised that data does not always translate into fact, fact does not necessarily become information, information alone does not guarantee knowledge and knowledge does not automatically lead to wisdom. Wisdom often emerges through experience, perspective and dialogue. This platform seeks to contribute to that journey of understanding,” he said.
Khanna emphasised that while reassurance and hope are important elements of healthcare conversations, meaningful hope must be supported by knowledge and collaboration between patients and healthcare professionals.

“In healthcare we often hear reassuring words that everything will be fine. However, hope becomes meaningful only when it is supported by understanding and informed decision making. Hope is important in healthcare, but hope without understanding can create confusion. The Hope Code is an attempt to bridge that gap,” he added.
The platform will feature conversations and reflections from leaders across healthcare, medicine, policy and technology, examining real life healthcare dilemmas and the role of credible information in patient decision making.
At a time when digital platforms host an increasing volume of health related content, The Hope Code aims to encourage audiences to approach healthcare discussions with greater awareness and discernment, helping them identify reliable perspectives and understand the broader context behind medical decisions.
Through The Hope Code, Varun Khanna hopes to create a space where experience, dialogue and credible knowledge come together to help individuals navigate healthcare decisions with greater clarity and confidence.
