Shri Swami Swaroopananda Ji and Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Shri Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka addressed participants at a two day public event in Hyderabad
Chinmaya Mission organised a two day public spiritual programme in Hyderabad on 24 and 25 January at NTR Stadium, drawing large public participation across age groups and backgrounds. The event brought together spiritual leaders, public representatives, and citizens for collective chanting, exhibitions, and thematic presentations.
The programme was addressed by Shri Swami Swaroopananda Ji, Global Head of Chinmaya Mission, and Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Shri Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Both speakers reflected on the role of spiritual and philosophical traditions in contemporary public life and the importance of values based engagement within society.
A central component of the programme was the collective chanting of the Bhagavad Gita, with particular focus on the fifteenth chapter, Purushottama Yoga, conducted on 25 January. Organisers said more than 14,000 participants took part in the chanting, including around 200 visually challenged children, highlighting the inclusive nature of the gathering.
During the event, Shri Swami Swaroopananda Ji unveiled Gita Panchamrit, an initiative designed to encourage structured and practical engagement with the Bhagavad Gita. Built around the theme “5 Shlokas. 1 Essence.”, the initiative seeks to make selected verses accessible and relevant for everyday reflection across age groups.
The programme also featured exhibitions outlining Chinmaya Mission’s work in spiritual education, youth engagement, service initiatives, and cultural activities. A dedicated books pavilion and an immersive virtual reality presentation featuring teachings of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda were part of the public displays, offering visitors an overview of the organisation’s philosophical approach and outreach efforts.
Speaking at the programme, Shri Swami Swaroopananda Ji said that collective chanting and structured engagement with scripture allow individuals to integrate spiritual understanding into daily life. He noted that simple and consistent engagement with key verses can encourage curiosity and deeper exploration, particularly among younger audiences.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said spiritual and cultural institutions continue to play a role in shaping social values and public discourse. He added that such public programmes provide space for reflection and balance amid changing social and economic conditions.
Several dignitaries and spiritual leaders were present across the two days, including Pasala Geervani, former Vice Chancellor of Padmavati University, L V Subrahmanyam, IAS Retd, former Chief Secretary of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, Swami Sarveshananda Ji, Resident Spiritual Teacher for Greater Hyderabad, Swami Bodhamayananda Ji, Director of Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence at Ramakrishna Math, Apparao Mukkamala, Trustee of Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth, and Harish Kumar, Trustee of CSTH and President of Chinmaya Mission Greater Hyderabad.
The Hyderabad programme formed part of Chinmaya Mission’s ongoing public engagement efforts, focusing on collective learning, inclusive participation, and dialogue rooted in Indian philosophical thought.
