As European Routes Heat Up, Royal Jordanian Pushes Amman as Short Haul Alternative for India

Airline positions Jordan’s capital as a climate friendly cultural city break ahead of peak outbound summer travel

New Delhi, February 24, 2026: As Indian outbound travel demand builds ahead of peak summer, Royal Jordanian Airlines is positioning Amman as a short haul cultural alternative to traditional European routes that are seeing rising fares and seasonal congestion.
With late winter and early spring offering moderate temperatures, Jordan’s capital is being presented as a climate friendly destination that combines heritage, compact city exploration and regional connectivity.

Industry observers note that Indian travellers are increasingly evaluating travel time, visa convenience and on ground mobility while planning international holidays. In this context, Amman offers a walkable historic core, accessible archaeological landmarks and short driving distances to globally recognised attractions such as Petra, the Dead Sea and Wadi Rum.
Royal Jordanian connects Indian travellers to Amman through major international hubs, enabling onward access across Jordan’s tourism circuit. The airline is highlighting the city’s blend of ancient architecture, contemporary cafés and cultural districts as part of its outreach to India’s growing experiential travel segment.

Karim Makhlouf, Chief Commercial Officer of Royal Jordanian Airlines, said Indian travellers are looking for destinations that balance cultural depth with manageable journey times and comfortable transit options.
With European travel costs climbing during spring and summer, Middle Eastern capitals are gaining attention among Indian leisure travellers seeking shorter travel duration without compromising on history and experience.
Through this positioning, Royal Jordanian aims to strengthen Amman’s visibility within India’s outbound travel conversation ahead of the high summer booking cycle.
