Arun Bagaria, Co-founder and CEO, TravClan, outlines expansion plans as Sahil Kukreja, Vice President, Trifecta Capital, and Rajul Garg, Founder and Managing Partner, Leo Capital, discuss the company’s travel infrastructure model serving more than 15,000 agents.
B2B travel technology company TravClan has raised $5 million in funding involving Flipkart, August One and debt financing from Trifecta Capital.
The company plans to use the capital to expand its international travel supply network, develop its artificial intelligence capabilities and improve destination operations across key markets.
The latest funding takes TravClan’s total capital raised to more than $11 million.
Its investors include Leo Capital, The Ventures, Hashed, August One, Flipkart and a group of angel investors.
TravClan provides technology and travel services to businesses that arrange flights, accommodation, activities and international holiday packages for customers.
The platform currently serves more than 15,000 travel agents across India and processes over $100 million in annual travel sales.
Approximately 40% of its business originates from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, indicating the importance of smaller urban markets within its existing distribution network.
The company is developing infrastructure intended to help travel businesses manage multiple stages of a booking through a common platform.
These include accessing travel inventory, comparing prices, preparing itineraries, making reservations, handling payments and coordinating services at destinations.
Traditionally, travel agents may need to work with separate suppliers and software systems to complete these activities.
TravClan aims to reduce that complexity by combining travel inventory, booking technology, AI tools and destination services.
Arun Bagaria, Co-founder and CEO, TravClan, said, “We started TravClan by solving this problem for independent travel agents.”
He added, “Our ambition is to make TravClan the infrastructure that any travel business can build on instead of having to recreate the entire travel stack itself.”
A central part of the company’s operating model involves establishing direct relationships with hotels and activity providers.
TravClan also operates ground teams across Southeast Asia, the Middle East and India to coordinate destination services.
According to the company, these arrangements provide greater visibility into supplier pricing, inventory availability and service delivery.
Its destination services currently cover more than 18 markets.
The platform also uses artificial intelligence to assist travel agents with preparing and modifying international itineraries.
For example, when a customer changes travel dates, accommodation preferences or other elements of a trip, the technology is designed to help agents revise the itinerary and pricing without rebuilding the entire booking manually.
TravClan says these processes can be completed in minutes rather than hours.
The company intends to invest further in these capabilities as part of its next phase of development.
The funding will also support additional direct supplier partnerships and expansion of its destination operations.
TravClan plans to develop its infrastructure to accommodate larger travel businesses and platforms alongside its existing agent network.
Arun Bagaria said, “The next generation of travel software will not just help sellers search faster. It will increasingly execute work for them.”
He added, “This capital allows us to invest aggressively behind that opportunity.”
Sahil Kukreja, Vice President, Trifecta Capital, said, “TravClan has built a capital efficient model by owning supply rather than buying demand, and distributing through agents in underserved markets.”
He added, “We are pleased to support the company in this next phase of growth.”
Rajul Garg, Founder and Managing Partner, Leo Capital, also commented on the company’s focus on direct supply relationships.
He said, “We backed them when owning supply looked like the slow way to build.”
Garg added, “In travel, whoever owns the supply owns the economics.”
TravClan’s expansion plans come as the company identifies growing demand for international holidays among travellers from smaller Indian cities.
Its business model focuses on helping travel agents access international inventory and coordinate complex bookings through a single technology platform.
The company has stated an ambition to develop the infrastructure required to serve the next 100 million international travellers from India.
That figure represents its long term business ambition rather than its current customer base.
With the new funding, TravClan plans to expand its supplier network, AI capabilities and operational presence while continuing to serve travel agents and other businesses selling international travel.
