Dr J M Nair, Principal VESIT, Anil Bhatia, Emerson Automation Solutions and Gautam Khanna, President and CEO, Maker Bhavan Foundation outline practice led engineering vision at VES HAMC campus
National, February 23, 2026: Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Technology has introduced a dedicated maker driven learning space at its VES HAMC campus in collaboration with the Maker Bhavan Foundation, reinforcing its focus on hands on engineering education.
The initiative forms part of the centenary celebrations of the founder of Vivekanand Education Society, Karmayogi Late Shri Hashuji Advani. Under the theme Gen Z for Nation Building, the institution is conducting academic and cultural programmes aimed at encouraging young learners to contribute meaningfully through innovation and applied knowledge.
The newly established space is designed to enable students to experiment, prototype and translate theoretical concepts into practical engineering solutions. By fostering cross disciplinary collaboration, the initiative seeks to cultivate technical competence alongside problem solving and entrepreneurial thinking.
Dr J M Nair, Principal of Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Technology, said, “At VESIT, we see engineering as an act of curiosity in motion. The Tinkerers’ Lab creates a culture where students are encouraged to question assumptions, dismantle ideas, rebuild them, and discover solutions that are both inventive and responsible.”
Chief Guest Anil Bhatia, Vice President and Managing Director at Emerson Automation Solutions, stated that modern industry increasingly values the ability to experiment and adapt. He noted that spaces which promote hands on exploration help students build the confidence required for leadership roles.
Gautam Khanna, President and CEO of Maker Bhavan Foundation, said that engineering talent develops most effectively when students are entrusted with real tools and real challenges. He added that iterative learning builds professional maturity alongside technical skills.
Through this collaboration, VESIT aims to embed experiential learning within its engineering curriculum, strengthening innovation culture and preparing students for emerging technological landscapes.
