Christel House India's second partnership with the Thane Municipal Corporation will establish a school serving children from under resourced communities in Kavesar. The campus will follow the organisation's education model that provides academics, nutrition, healthcare, transportation, counselling and career support at no cost.
Saurabh Rao, IAS, Municipal Commissioner, Thane Municipal Corporation, and Jaison C. Mathew, CEO, Christel House India, signed an MoU for a new CBSE English medium school in Kavesar, months after the organisation’s first Thane campus welcomed students.
Christel House India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Thane Municipal Corporation to establish its second school in Thane and fifth school in India.
The new CBSE English medium school will be located in Kavesar and will serve children from under resourced communities in the surrounding areas.
The agreement comes months after Christel House India’s first school in Thane welcomed its inaugural group of students earlier this year. Both Thane schools operate in partnership with the Thane Municipal Corporation.
The MoU was signed by Saurabh Rao, IAS, Municipal Commissioner, Thane Municipal Corporation, and Jaison C. Mathew, CEO, Christel House India.
The signing took place in the presence of Prashant Rode, Additional Commissioner; Major Dr. Nitin Rathod, Additional Commissioner; Dr. Mitali Sancheti, Deputy Commissioner; Martha Lamkin, Board Chair, Christel House International; David Harris, President and CEO, Christel House International; Donald Knebel, Board Vice Chair, Christel House International; and Rajeev Ram, Global Ambassador, Christel House.
Saurabh Rao, IAS, Municipal Commissioner, Thane Municipal Corporation, said, “As Thane continues to grow, ensuring every neighbourhood has access to quality education has to be part of that growth. Our first school with Christel House showed us what this model can deliver for a community. This second MoU, for a school in Kavesar, is a continuation of our commitment to the city’s children.”
Jaison C. Mathew, CEO, Christel House India, said, “This second school in Thane is proof of something we have always believed: impact is built on trust, and trust takes time. The Municipal Corporation saw what our first campus here could do for a community, and they chose to partner with us again. We are deeply grateful for that confidence, and Kavesar will have our full commitment, the same way every Christel House school does.”
The Kavesar campus will follow Christel House India’s whole child education model, which combines English medium education with nutrition, healthcare, safe transportation, socio emotional counselling, character development, and college and career guidance.
Support can continue from kindergarten through the student’s early career, representing an engagement of 18 years or more for each student.
Uniforms, learning materials and post secondary scholarships are also provided without charge. According to the organisation, admission is based on evidence of poverty rather than academic merit alone.
The new campus will expand Christel House India’s network to five schools across the country.
The organisation also has public private partnerships with the Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran in Atal Nagar and the Pune Zilla Parishad in Pune.
The latest agreement follows Christel House India’s announcement last week outlining plans to add more schools over the next decade as it expands its educational presence in India.
