The programme provided Rohit with an opportunity to gain experience in professional film production through the Diwali themed film “Together Makes It Diwali”.
Shot entirely on the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max smartphone, the film follows three friends in Jaipur and explores how familiar traditions and personal relationships can create a sense of home during the festive season.
Rohit received a cash prize of ₹5 lakh, an OPPO Find X10 Pro Max, OPPO x Discovery certification and an opportunity for future collaboration with OPPO.
The company has also announced plans for a second season of the Filmmaker Accelerator Program.
FILMMAKER ACCELERATOR PROGRAM ATTRACTS HUNDREDS OF ENTRIES
Launched in May 2026 in collaboration with Discovery, the Filmmaker Accelerator Program operates under the OPPO LUMO Creator Program.
The initiative is intended to identify emerging filmmakers and provide opportunities to develop their skills through mentorship and practical production experience.
The programme also marks the third year of OPPO and Discovery’s “Culture in a Shot” initiative.
The 2026 contest followed the theme “Meet Culture Anew, Make Your Moment”, inviting participants to interpret culture through everyday experiences, personal relationships and local traditions.
According to OPPO India, the competition received hundreds of entries featuring stories rooted in communities and daily life.
Rohit was selected for his approach to visual storytelling and his attention to familiar surroundings.
FROM RURAL EXPERIENCES TO PROFESSIONAL FILMMAKING
Rohit developed an interest in filmmaking while growing up in rural India.
He began documenting landscapes, natural light and everyday activities using a smartphone.
His approach focused on observing details that might otherwise go unnoticed.
A serious health scare later influenced his perspective, encouraging him to pay closer attention to ordinary moments and personal experiences.
Through the Filmmaker Accelerator Program, Rohit received an opportunity to develop his filmmaking skills while working on a professionally produced Diwali film.
THE STORY OF TOGETHER MAKES IT DIWALI
Set in Jaipur, “Together Makes It Diwali” follows three friends during the festive season.
The film opens with scenes of busy markets, flower garlands, illuminated homes and people preparing to reunite with their families.
One of the friends is spending Diwali away from home and is reminded of his family’s celebrations.
Recognising that he misses home, his two friends decide to prepare kheer using his family’s recipe.
They contact his mother through a video call for instructions.
Their attempt involves cooking mistakes, laughter and small gestures of friendship as they try to recreate a familiar festive experience.
The story explores how food, shared traditions and companionship can help someone feel connected to home even when they are away from family.
The film is available on OPPO India’s digital platforms.
SHOT ON OPPO FIND X10 PRO MAX
The film was recorded entirely using the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max.
According to the company, the smartphone’s 4K Cine Grade HDR Video capability and LUMO True Image Engine were used to capture colour, depth and visual detail.
The production formed part of the programme’s emphasis on using smartphone imaging technology for filmmaking.
The Find X10 Pro Max belongs to the OPPO Find X10 Series, which also includes the Find X10.
OPPO states that the series features a Triple 200MP Camera System developed with Hasselblad, ColorOS 17, an 8000mAh battery and the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro processor.
The company also announced first sale cashback offers of up to ₹30,000 on the Find X10 Pro Max and up to ₹21,000 on the Find X10.
These offers were announced separately from the filmmaker competition.
SECOND SEASON OF FILMMAKER PROGRAM ANNOUNCED
OPPO India has announced that the Filmmaker Accelerator Program will return for a second season.
The initiative forms part of the OPPO LUMO Creator Program, which focuses on emerging mobile content creators, including micro and nano creators.
Through the programme, OPPO and Discovery intend to continue providing opportunities for aspiring filmmakers to develop their skills and gain production experience.
Rohit’s selection in the debut edition illustrates the programme’s focus on identifying creators whose work draws from personal experiences and local culture.
The second season is expected to continue that focus, although specific application dates and participation details were not provided in the announcement.
