Ajay Bhalwankar, Chief Content Officer at Sony SAB, Movies, FTA and Infotainment, said the film blends humour, romance and supernatural elements, with Ayushmann Khurrana playing journalist Alok Goyal and Rashmika Mandanna appearing as Tarika, ahead of its March 21 telecast on Sony MAX.
Television premieres continue to expand the reach of films, bringing theatrical releases to audiences across households.
Thamma is set to air on Sony MAX on March 21 at 8 PM, offering a mix of romance, humour and supernatural storytelling. The film features Ayushmann Khurrana as Alok Goyal, a journalist whose life takes an unexpected turn, and Rashmika Mandanna as Tarika, a mysterious character central to the narrative.
The story unfolds around an unusual relationship shaped by folklore elements and unexpected events, blending horror and comedy within a contemporary setting. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal and Sathyaraj in key roles.
A notable aspect of the film is Rashmika Mandanna performing her own stunts, adding a layer of realism to the action sequences and contributing to the portrayal of her character.
Ajay Bhalwankar, Chief Content Officer at Sony SAB, Movies, FTA and Infotainment, said, “The television premiere of Thamma brings together supernatural storytelling, romance and humour in a format that appeals to family audiences. With a strong ensemble cast, the film offers an engaging viewing experience.”
The film combines elements of suspense, humour and emotional storytelling, positioning itself within the growing space of genre blending narratives in Indian cinema.
With its television debut, Thamma extends its reach beyond theatres, bringing its mix of storytelling styles to a wider audience base.
