Saurabh Srivastava, Chief Operating Officer, Digital Business, Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd., said Kajodu brings together Esha Kansara, Mitra Gadhvi and Vishal Vada Vala as the platform expands its Gujarati originals portfolio.
Regional streaming platforms are expanding their original content strategies as audiences show stronger interest in rooted stories told through contemporary formats. In line with this shift, ShemarooMe has announced Kajodu, a Gujarati original thriller series set to stream from 14th May 2026.
The series stars Mitra Gadhvi and Esha Kansara and is directed by Vishal Vada Vala. Kajodu is the first Gujarati original series created under the Shemaroo Premiere umbrella.
The story follows Bhavesh as he searches for his ideal life partner. The plot takes a mysterious turn when his partner arrives with unanswered questions and the relationship becomes more complicated than expected.
Positioned between romance and thriller, Kajodu adds a genre led title to ShemarooMe’s Gujarati content slate. The platform said the series reflects its focus on culturally rooted, genre diverse storytelling aimed at driving audience engagement.
ShemarooMe has built a large Gujarati entertainment catalogue spanning movies, originals and curated viewing experiences. With regional audiences showing growing interest in local stories presented in newer formats, Gujarati entertainment remains a key growth area for the platform.
Saurabh Srivastava, Chief Operating Officer, Digital Business, Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd., said, “At ShemarooMe, our content strategy is anchored in building a stronger regional entertainment ecosystem through differentiated narratives that drive meaningful engagement. With Kajodu, we are not only expanding our Gujarati originals portfolio but also experimenting with genre innovation. Romantic thrillers have a strong emotional and narrative pull, and we believe this series will resonate with audiences seeking layered, immersive storytelling. What also makes Kajodu exciting for us is the coming together of some of the most popular and credible creative voices from the Gujarati cinema, like Esha Kansara, Mitra Gadhvi and Vishal Vada Vala. As we scale our digital footprint, such originals will play a critical role in enhancing platform stickiness and long-term value creation.”
With Kajodu, ShemarooMe is looking to add depth to its Gujarati originals pipeline while supporting subscriber acquisition and retention through regional genre programming.
