India’s largest Small Finance Bank reinforces employee trust metrics as it prepares for regulatory transition
Mumbai, February 23, 2026: AU Small Finance Bank is reinforcing its workforce culture strategy at a defining moment in its institutional journey, with its employee base now approaching 60,000 across India.
The bank, which has received in principle approval to transition into a Universal Bank, continues to invest in employee experience, leadership development and long term capability building. Its latest workplace certification, secured for the sixth consecutive year, reflects sustained improvements in employee trust metrics for the financial year 2026.
From its origins as a single branch non banking finance company in Rajasthan, AU SFB has expanded into India’s largest Small Finance Bank by scale. The bank now operates through more than 2,726 banking touchpoints across 21 states and four union territories, serving over 1.25 crore customers.
Founder, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Agarwal said the recognition validates the bank’s Forever Banking philosophy, which focuses on long term trust, integrity and growth for stakeholders and employees alike.
AU SFB has expanded its digital and technology infrastructure in parallel with workforce growth. A 1,100 member information technology team, supported by more than 200 in house developers, is driving digital platform enhancement, data architecture strengthening and operational automation initiatives.
As the bank prepares for the operational and regulatory responsibilities associated with Universal Bank status, leadership emphasis remains on maintaining organisational cohesion, values driven culture and scalable governance frameworks.
Industry observers note that workforce stability and institutional culture are increasingly seen as competitive differentiators in India’s evolving banking landscape, particularly during phases of structural expansion.
