Structural Heart team at Medanta Noida led by Dr Parneesh Arora, Dr Amit Malik and Dr Ranjan Mody completes three TAVI procedures for severe aortic stenosis patients
Treatment options for patients diagnosed with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis are expanding in Delhi NCR, with catheter based valve replacement emerging as a viable alternative for individuals considered high risk for open heart surgery.
At Medanta The Medicity, Noida, three male patients in their early sixties recently underwent Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation procedures following detailed evaluation by a dedicated multidisciplinary Heart Team. Each patient had been diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis, a progressive valve disorder that can lead to heart failure, syncope and reduced survival if untreated.
The procedures were performed by the Structural Heart Interventional Cardiology team led by Dr Parneesh Arora, Dr Amit Malik and Dr Ranjan Mody, with support from Dr Vineet Bhatia, Dr Waseem Farooqi and Dr Aakash Vijay. Pre procedural assessment involved interventional cardiologists, imaging specialists, cardiac anaesthetists, nursing teams and cardiac surgeons to determine suitability for catheter based intervention.
Traditionally, surgical valve replacement has been regarded as the standard treatment for aortic stenosis. However, a significant proportion of elderly or high risk patients are not ideal candidates for open heart surgery. Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation offers a minimally invasive alternative, typically performed through vascular access in the groin, eliminating the need for sternotomy and enabling faster recovery.
All three procedures were completed successfully, with patients showing clinical improvement during the recovery period. The addition of catheter based valve therapy enhances access to advanced structural heart interventions for patients across Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Western Uttar Pradesh.
Medanta Noida integrates interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, structural heart interventions, heart failure management and acute cardiac care within a single coordinated system, enabling timely decision making and continuity of care for complex cardiac conditions.
