Prof. Amar Agarwal, Secretary General of IIRSI and Chairman of Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital, said the convention brings over 2,000 specialists together for scientific sessions, live surgeries and hands on training.

The Indian Intraocular Implant and Refractive Surgery Convention 2026 opened in Chennai with participation from more than 2,000 ophthalmologists, surgeons, researchers and eye care experts from India and abroad.
The two day convention, scheduled for 4 and 5 July 2026, was inaugurated by Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Governor of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The event is organised by the Intraocular Implant and Refractive Society of India.
IIRSI 2026 features more than 250 speakers, over 500 scientific topics and nine wet lab sessions. The programme covers cataract, refractive surgery, cornea, retina, myopia and comprehensive ophthalmology.

The inauguration was attended by Padma Shri Dr Jeewan Singh Titiyal, President, IIRSI; Prof. Amar Agarwal, Secretary General, IIRSI; Dr Namrata Sharma, Chairman, Scientific Committee, All India Ophthalmic Society; Dr Gaurav Luthra, Chairman, IIRSI ARC; Dr TP Lahane; Dr Ragini Parekh; Dr Ritika Sachdev; Maj Gen JKS Parihar; Dr Rohit Om Prakash and Dr Mohan Rajan.
Scientific sessions at the convention include international faculty lectures, live surgical demonstrations, case discussions, wet lab sessions, abstract presentations and the IIRSI Ophthalmic Photography Competition.
The Ophthalmic Premier League, also known as the Mohan Rajan OPL Trophy, will feature team based video presentations, case discussions, surgeon self evaluation and expert review of ophthalmic complications and surgical procedures.

IIRSI 2026 also marks the debut of BAdS@IIRSI, led by Dr Ashvin Agarwal, bringing clinicians and industry leaders together for discussions on business strategy, technology and the future of eye care.
In his inaugural address, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said, “India has emerged as an important hub for medical innovation and excellence, and forums such as the IIRSI Convention further strengthen this position.”
Dr Jeewan Singh Titiyal, President, IIRSI and All India Ophthalmological Society, said, “The future of eye care lies in collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.”
Prof. Amar Agarwal, Secretary General, IIRSI and Chairman, Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital, said, “The IIRSI Convention continues to serve as a premier forum where the finest minds in ophthalmology converge to exchange ideas, showcase innovations, and advance the science of eye care.”
