The collaboration combines scientific research and clinical expertise to develop evidence-based nutrition solutions for companion animal health.

Mumbai, June 9, 2026: Tata Chemicals Limited (TCL) and the Advanced Veterinary Care Foundation (AVCF), which operates the Small Animal Hospital Mumbai (SAHM), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advancing the science of pet nutrition and companion animal health.
The partnership brings together Tata Chemicals’ expertise in scientific research, ingredient innovation and product development with SAHM’s clinical experience in companion animal healthcare. The collaboration aims to develop science-backed nutritional solutions that address the evolving health needs of pets while improving their overall well-being.

As awareness among pet owners continues to grow regarding the importance of nutrition in preventive healthcare, both organisations will work together to identify gaps in pet nutrition and translate clinical insights into evidence-based solutions.
The initiative will leverage Tata Chemicals’ research and development capabilities in ingredient science, prebiotic nutrition and formulation development alongside SAHM’s experience in veterinary care and therapeutic interventions for companion animals.
The collaboration also seeks to contribute to improved digestive health, balanced nutrition and enhanced quality of life for companion animals. Both organisations stated that any future product validation or testing, if required, will be conducted independently through accredited veterinary institutions while adhering to all applicable ethical and regulatory standards.

Maj. Gen. (Dr.) Pramod Batra, Head – Hospital Administration & Services, Small Animal Hospital Mumbai, said, “At SAHM, we are committed to advancing the standards of care and well-being for companion animals through clinical excellence and compassion. We see this collaboration with Tata Chemicals as an opportunity to contribute our domain expertise towards a structured exchange of knowledge that can inform better nutritional understanding for pets. We look forward to a partnership rooted in science, ethics and a shared goal of improving animal health outcomes.”

Dr. Richard Lobo, Head – Innovation, R&D, Business Excellence and Chief Ethics Counselor, Tata Chemicals Limited, said, “Our purpose has always been rooted in the belief that science must serve a larger societal good. This collaboration with Small Animal Hospital Mumbai provides an opportunity to extend that philosophy to companion animal health. By combining SAHM’s clinical expertise with our strengths in nutrition science, research and innovation, we aim to build a knowledge ecosystem that advances evidence-based solutions for small animal health while contributing to improved quality of life for companion animals.”
The partnership reflects the growing focus on science-driven pet healthcare and reinforces the importance of collaboration between industry and veterinary institutions in developing innovative nutrition solutions for companion animals.
