The geographic split of Samsung’s latest foldable bookings points to premium smartphone demand moving deeper into smaller Indian cities, while the new range starts at INR 124,999.

JB Park, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, said demand beyond metropolitan markets is opening a significant growth opportunity as the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 surpass the pace of last year’s foldables.

Nearly half of the first 271,000 pre-orders for Samsung’s new foldable smartphones in India have come from Tier 2 cities and smaller markets, indicating that demand for premium foldable devices is extending well beyond the country’s major metropolitan centres.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 collectively crossed 271,000 pre-orders within 72 hours of their July 22 launch in India. Samsung said a comparable number of pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 last year had taken 15 days.

Tier 2 cities and markets beyond them accounted for 45% of the latest pre-orders. Samsung views the geographic spread as an indication of increasing demand for foldable smartphones across emerging consumer markets.
Following the initial response, the company expects the new Galaxy Z series to match the pre-orders secured by the Galaxy S26 series earlier in 2026.
JB Park, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, said, “The overwhelming response to our new Galaxy Z series highlights India’s increasing demand for innovative technologies that enhance productivity and unlock creative potential.”

Park said the devices are Made in India and supported by Samsung’s research and development capabilities in the country.
“With 45% of pre-orders originating from Tier 2 cities and beyond, we are observing the rise of a promising growth market with significant potential,” he added.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 weighs 201 grams, making it Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold model so far. Its cover display uses a 10:16 ratio for messaging, browsing and short format video, while the main display uses a 4:3 ratio for reading, gaming, streaming and multitasking.
The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor and carries a 4800mAh battery.

For photography, Galaxy Z Fold8 carries dual 50MP cameras covering wide and ultra wide perspectives. Dual Recording can record two sides of a moment simultaneously, while My FanCam can track a selected subject and adjust the frame during recording.

Its camera system includes a 200MP main camera and a 50MP ultra wide camera. The device also supports enhanced Nightography, 8K video recording with APV codec and Cine LUT support for editing and post production.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor and has a 5000mAh battery. It uses a dual path 45W fast charging architecture and an expanded graphite cooling system for intensive multitasking and other demanding applications.
Galaxy Z Flip8 is Samsung’s slimmest and lightest Flip model to date. Its FlexWindow allows users to access applications, information and actions from the cover display without unfolding the device.
The phone supports Now Brief for personalised updates and Gemini Intelligence for tasks across applications and services.
