Energy Innovators to Receive Prototype Funding Through Chevron ENGINE and IIT Madras Partnership

Dr. Akshay Sahni, Country Head, Chevron India, and Prof Ashwin Mahalingam, Dean, Alumni and Corporate Relations, IIT Madras, outline a joint incubation programme offering technical mentorship, prototype funding and entrepreneurship guidance for emerging energy technologies.

Early stage innovators, researchers and social entrepreneurs working on energy technologies will receive technical mentorship, prototype funding and incubation support through a new programme introduced by Chevron Engineering and Innovation Excellence Center (Chevron ENGINE) and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras).
The Chevron IITM Energy Technology Incubation Program will support the development of solutions across energy technologies, infrastructure, carbon utilisation, circular economy and resource efficiency. Participants will receive preincubation support, technical guidance and access to IIT Madras’ research and incubation ecosystem.
The initiative forms part of Chevron UDAAN, the company’s community partnership portfolio. It brings together Chevron ENGINE’s industry experience and IIT Madras’ research capabilities to support innovators developing practical solutions for energy sector challenges.

Through this partnership with IIT Madras, we are extending that idea into India’s innovation ecosystem by supporting student teams, researchers and social entrepreneurs developing practical solutions for the energy sector.
By combining technical mentorship, entrepreneurial support and applied industry perspective, we hope to help build future-ready talent and advance ideas that can contribute to affordable, reliable and ever-cleaner energy.”

As part of the collaboration, Chevron ENGINE may contribute industry expertise, technical mentorship, employee volunteering and opportunities for participants to engage with professionals working in the energy sector.
IIT Madras will provide access to its research, innovation and incubation ecosystem, enabling participants to develop and test technologies while receiving guidance on entrepreneurship.

The programme builds on Chevron’s existing engagement with IIT Madras and extends the company’s community partnerships into early stage energy technology development.
Chevron ENGINE, formally known as Chevron Engineering and Innovation Excellence Center, is Chevron’s integrated engineering, technology and innovation centre in Bengaluru. It brings together technical and professional talent to support the company’s global operations and projects.
Through this collaboration, Chevron ENGINE and IIT Madras aim to support researchers and entrepreneurs as they develop, test and potentially scale energy technologies.
