A 63 year old patient from Kokrajhar district has been treated at Peerless Hospital Guwahati for complex cervical dystonia, a neurological movement disorder that causes painful involuntary twisting and abnormal posturing of the neck.
The patient underwent a customised botulinum toxin injection procedure on 5 June 2026 under the care of Dr. Rajeshkumar V. Kurmi, Consultant Neurologist at Peerless Hospital Guwahati.
Following the treatment, the patient reported a notable reduction in pain and abnormal neck movements over the next few weeks, allowing him to return to daily activities with improved confidence and independence.
Cervical dystonia causes involuntary muscle contractions that force the head and neck into abnormal positions. The condition can lead to severe pain, restricted movement and disruption of daily life. Timely diagnosis and treatment are important in reducing long term disability and improving patient outcomes.
