Cyber Fraud Awareness Drive Reaches Youth in Nizamabad Through Bajaj Finance Initiative

Mohammed Moqeed Pasha, Cybercrime Inspector of Police, Nizamabad, Basavaraya Manohara, Retired Superintendent of Police, and a spokesperson from Bajaj Finance Ltd. say the programme is aimed at helping young digital users recognise cyber threats and protect their financial information

Bajaj Finance Ltd. conducted a cyber fraud awareness programme in Nizamabad as part of its nationwide Knockout Digital Fraud initiative, aimed at educating young digital users about emerging online threats and safe financial practices. The programme forms part of Bajaj Finance’s larger 100 city cybersecurity awareness effort focused on improving public understanding of digital fraud risks.
The event was held at SSR Degree and PG College in Kalilwadi, Nizamabad, and saw participation from students, faculty members, and law enforcement officials. Among those present were Mohammed Moqeed Pasha, Cybercrime Inspector of Police, Nizamabad, and Basavaraya Manohara, Retired Superintendent of Police. The programme was also attended by M. Maraiah Goud, Chairman of the college, along with senior faculty members.

Addressing the students, the speakers highlighted the growing incidence of cyber fraud cases reported in and around Nizamabad. These included fake OTP scams, phishing attempts, digital arrest frauds, loan related scams, pension fraud, and other forms of financial deception increasingly targeting young and first time digital users.
Mohammed Moqeed Pasha, Cybercrime Inspector of Police, Nizamabad, cautioned students about the rapid rise in fraud cases linked to unverified instant loan applications, particularly those operated through foreign based platforms. He explained how fraudsters often gain access to personal data after users grant permissions on such applications, which is later misused for financial exploitation. He urged students to enable two factor authentication on their devices as a basic safeguard against cybercrime. To encourage prompt reporting, he also shared his official contact number with students, advising them to seek immediate assistance in the event of any suspected online fraud.

Reinforcing the message of vigilance, Basavaraya Manohara, Retired Superintendent of Police, advised students not to click on unknown links or share OTPs with unverified sources. He stressed the importance of early reporting, stating that timely information allows authorities to take swift action and increases the chances of preventing further financial loss.
The Knockout Digital Fraud programme is aligned with the Reserve Bank of India’s 2024 guidelines on fraud risk management for non banking financial companies, which emphasise early detection, accountability, and public engagement. The initiative focuses on educating citizens about common scams involving fake social media accounts, fraudulent WhatsApp groups, and websites impersonating financial institutions or their employees.

Speaking on the occasion, a spokesperson from Bajaj Finance Ltd. said the company places the highest priority on consumer financial safety. The spokesperson noted that Bajaj Finance regularly issues online and offline advisories through social media platforms and on ground engagements to encourage cyber safe behaviour among citizens.
The Knockout Digital Fraud initiative includes interactive workshops, digital awareness drives, and community outreach programmes across cities and towns, offering practical guidance on protecting personal and sensitive information. Participants are advised to avoid sharing OTPs and PINs, refrain from clicking on suspicious emails, messages, links or QR codes, and download applications only from verified sources.
