Deva Jyotula, Senior Vice President – Retail, Korum Mall, and Nandita Khanna, Director of Education, Nalanda Public School, highlight student-led resource conservation initiative aligned with 2026 theme

Thane | February 27, 2026: Korum Mall, in collaboration with Nalanda Public School, marked National Science Day with a student-led awareness initiative aligned with the 2026 theme of resource conservation. The programme focused on conserving water and energy, protecting trees, and encouraging responsible consumption, drawing participation from approximately 170 students of Grades 6 and 7.

The celebration began with a street march across Thane, where students raised slogans and displayed placards advocating sustainable practices and environmental responsibility. The march was followed by a stage play hosted at Korum Mall, where students creatively presented the importance of preserving natural resources and adopting sustainable living habits.

Parents, shoppers, invited guests, and residents of Thane attended the performances, transforming the initiative into a broader community engagement exercise. The event reinforced the idea that environmental awareness must begin early and that educational institutions play a key role in shaping responsible citizenship.
“We are delighted to have provided a platform for young minds to champion resource conservation and inspire collective responsibility towards the environment,” said Deva Jyotula, Senior Vice President – Retail, Korum Mall.

Sharing her thoughts, Nandita Khanna, Director of Education, Nalanda Public School, said the event reflects the growing environmental consciousness among students and the importance of encouraging children to voice their concerns and ideas for a sustainable future.
Through initiatives like this, Korum Mall continues to position itself as a venue for community-driven programmes that promote sustainability, awareness, and civic engagement in Thane.
