Children’s reading access expands in Bangalore as Liberty Shoes Limited aligns with neOwn for in store subscription benefit

Anupam Bansal, Executive Director, Liberty Shoes Limited, and Kranti Gada, Founder, neOwn, outline ₹500 subscription voucher rollout across 25 Liberty stores linking footwear retail with cognitive development

Liberty Shoes Limited has introduced a month long collaboration with neOwn, India’s app based book rental platform for children, across its 25 exclusive stores in Bangalore. Under the initiative, customers will receive a ₹500 discount voucher with every Liberty purchase, redeemable on any neOwn subscription.
The partnership brings together a legacy footwear retailer and a technology enabled reading platform to position in store retail as a channel for added value beyond product transactions. The voucher model is designed to support families seeking to combine children’s physical essentials with learning resources.

neOwn was founded by Kranti Gada, former COO of Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd., and gained visibility through the show IdeaBaaz, where Anupam Bansal, Executive Director, Liberty Shoes Limited, participated as one of the Titans. Subsequent discussions between the two organisations led to the Bangalore pilot.
Kranti Gada, Founder, neOwn, said, “I am deeply grateful to Mr. Bansal for seeing the potential in what we are building. Mr. Bansal offered valuable insights from being in the retail business for decades, along with access to Liberty’s retail infrastructure. This partnership validates our mission in a way that goes beyond capital. It is a testament to the power of believing in a shared vision: that every child deserves to be introduced to books early to grow confident, both physically and mentally.”

Anupam Bansal, Executive Director, Liberty Shoes Limited, said, “Business today has evolved beyond commercial transactions. Today’s customers are looking for brands that add real value to their lives. When I met Kranti on IdeaBaaz, I saw a founder who is building something that genuinely helps parents raise confident children. Liberty has the retail infrastructure to help scale that impact. Sometimes the best partnerships are not about funding, they are about finding aligned missions and acting on it together. Good shoes give children the physical confidence to explore the world. Good books give them the mental tools to understand it. This partnership makes both accessible to the families who trust Liberty. It is a natural fit.”

The collaboration is supported by a co branded social media campaign focused on holistic child development, connecting physical growth with reading habits. Both brands are also creating educational content for parents centred on confidence building and early literacy.
The Bangalore rollout serves as a pilot for potential expansion into other markets. Liberty Shoes Limited, established in 1954 and headquartered in Karnal, Haryana, operates more than 450 exclusive stores and over 5,000 multi brand outlets across India. neOwn delivers monthly book rentals to families nationwide through its app, offering a catalogue of more than 50,000 titles and serving over 10,000 families.
