Dr Simon Mak, Vice Chancellor of Universal Ai University, said the programme focuses on hands on AI training and real world applications through MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives

Global collaborations in artificial intelligence education are expanding, with Universal Ai University partnering with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s International Science and Technology Initiatives to introduce a summer residency programme in India.
The AI Summer Residency 2026 is designed as a four day programme offering practical exposure to artificial intelligence through project based learning. It has been co created with MIT Global Teaching Labs and will be conducted across multiple sessions between May and July.

The programme is open to students from disciplines including management, design, liberal arts, music and technology, reflecting the growing role of artificial intelligence across fields.
Participants will work on real world problem statements and develop functional AI prototypes as part of the curriculum, combining academic learning with practical application.

The initiative will include contributions from MIT’s Global Teaching Team along with faculty from Universal Ai University.
Dr Simon Mak, Vice Chancellor of Universal Ai University, said, “This collaboration is to give hands on exposure to global standards of AI learning and innovation. Artificial intelligence is no longer a niche skill but has become a foundation across industries.”

The programme offers dual certification endorsed by an MIT affiliated body and Universal Ai University, introducing a new format for international academic collaboration in India.
The development reflects increasing demand for industry aligned AI education, with institutions focusing on global partnerships and applied learning models.
