Road Safety Awareness Reaches Chiplun Schools as Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Engages 2400 Students

Over 2400 students from Mary Matha School and Sati English Medium School joined interactive safety sessions, said Prabhu Nagaraj, Operating Officer Brand and Communication at Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, highlighting the importance of early road safety education.

Efforts to improve road safety awareness among young citizens continue to gain attention as organisations expand educational programmes in schools across India.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India conducted a Road Safety Awareness Campaign in Chiplun, Maharashtra, engaging more than 2400 participants from Mary Matha School and Sati English Medium School. The initiative focused on practical learning activities designed to help students understand responsible behaviour on roads.

The campaign included interactive sessions such as road safety learning modules, quizzes, games and scenario discussions that connected safety rules to real life situations. The activities encouraged students to think about alertness, discipline and their role as responsible road users.
According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Road Accidents in India 2023 report, Maharashtra recorded 35,243 road accidents in 2023 and ranks among the ten states with the highest number of road accidents. The figures underline the need for awareness based learning as part of broader road safety efforts.

Participants actively took part in the sessions, which highlighted how everyday decisions by road users can contribute to safer streets in their communities.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India conducts such programmes as part of its global vision Safety for Everyone, which focuses on age appropriate safety education. Across India, the company runs awareness initiatives supported by Traffic Training Parks and Safety Driving Education Centers that deliver practical learning through interactive formats.

Prabhu Nagaraj, Operating Officer Brand and Communication at Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, said the company believes early awareness helps build responsible habits that contribute to safer mobility for everyone.
The organisation has already reached more than 12 million people across India through road safety awareness initiatives. Its programmes include theory sessions on road signs, riding posture and safe riding practices, as well as practical activities using virtual riding simulators that demonstrate potential road hazards.

Participants also experienced Kiken Yosoku Training, a safety exercise that teaches drivers and riders how to anticipate risks and respond responsibly while travelling on roads.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has also introduced its digital learning platform E Gurukul, which provides road safety education modules for children between five and eighteen years of age. The platform is available in several Indian languages including Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and English to support accessibility across regions.

Through these initiatives, the company continues to expand road safety education programmes aimed at building responsible behaviour and promoting safer mobility across communities.
