West Bengal | 3rd March 2026: Lighthouse Canton, through its CSR platform Spreading Smiles, has partnered with Mission Smile to implement a structured cleft lip and cleft palate surgery programme in Krishnanagar, West Bengal.
The Krishnanagar initiative forms part of a broader commitment to complete 100 free corrective cleft surgeries across Hyderabad and West Bengal by March 2026. The programme is designed to provide comprehensive medical care at no cost to beneficiaries from underserved communities.
The West Bengal leg is being implemented at Hiramani Memorial Hospital, Krishnanagar. Patient screening commenced on 28th February 2026, with surgeries beginning on 1st March 2026. Around 50 free cleft surgeries are expected to be completed during this phase.
The programme was preceded by a surgical camp in Hyderabad from 9th to 11th February 2026, conducted through an outreach centre model. During that leg, 28 free cleft surgeries were completed, with an additional 22 surgeries planned to fulfil the Hyderabad commitment.
Across both locations, procedures are being carried out by multidisciplinary teams comprising specialists in plastic surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, anaesthesiology, paediatrics, dentistry and nursing. The approach is structured to ensure clinically safe and comprehensive treatment.
All supported patients receive complete assistance including transportation, accommodation, meals, pre operative evaluations, surgeries, medicines and post operative follow up. Where required, psychological counselling and nutritional guidance are also provided.

The initiative is anchored under Lighthouse Canton’s Spreading Smiles CSR platform, which focuses on enabling access to critical healthcare through structured partnerships and measurable outcomes.
Founded in 2002, Mission Smile is a registered medical charitable trust with more than two decades of experience in cleft care across India. The organisation has conducted medical evaluations for over 76,000 patients and performed more than 50,800 free cleft surgeries nationwide.
The Krishnanagar programme is supported by Hiramani Memorial Hospital, which is providing clinical infrastructure and specialist expertise for the mission.
