Umesh Revankar, Executive Vice Chairman, Shriram Finance Limited, Gudrun Busch, Global Head Financial Institutions at DEG, and Anuradha Choudhary, Managing Director and Head of Financial Institutions Corporate Banking at Citi India, say the facility will expand lending to MSMEs, EV buyers, women borrowers and smallholder farmers

Mumbai | March 3, 2026: Shriram Finance Limited has secured a USD 76 million co-financing package from DEG-Deutsche Investitions-und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH and Citi to support lending across underserved segments in India.
Under the facility, DEG has extended a Euro 40 million loan while Citi has provided a loan of INR 260 crore. Citi acted as Lead Arranger and Coordinator for the financing.

The capital will support credit access for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, electric vehicle financing, women borrowers and customers in underserved regions. Citi’s portion of the funding will also be directed toward smallholder farmers, a segment central to India’s rural economy and food security but often constrained by limited access to formal credit.
Umesh Revankar, Executive Vice Chairman, Shriram Finance Limited, said, “We are proud to partner with DEG and Citi on this high-impact facility, which strengthens our mission of driving financial inclusion across India. This funding will enable us to support small businesses, women entrepreneurs, EV adoption and small landholding farmers, segments that form the backbone of India’s growth story. Our deep presence in rural and semi-urban India positions us uniquely to channel this capital to customers who need it most.”

Gudrun Busch, Global Head Financial Institutions at DEG, said the investment aligns with the institution’s focus on supporting sustainable private sector development in emerging markets. She noted that Shriram Finance’s strong presence in rural and semi rural India positions it to extend credit to segments that drive economic activity across local markets.
Anuradha Choudhary, Managing Director and Head of Financial Institutions Corporate Banking at Citi India, said the collaboration demonstrates how global financial institutions can work together to expand access to credit in priority sectors. She added that the initiative aligns with Citi’s global commitment to finance and facilitate one trillion dollars toward sustainable finance by 2030.

This marks the second collaboration between Citi and DEG following their joint financing support to CreditAccess Grameen in 2024.
Shriram Finance, one of India’s largest non banking financial companies, serves borrowers across semi urban and rural markets through products including MSME loans, commercial vehicle financing, two wheeler loans, gold loans and personal credit.
