Women’s access to aspirational jobs becomes central focus of a new skilling push involving MSDE

MSDE Secretary Debashree Mukherjee says the initiative is designed to connect women’s skills with employability and inclusive economic growth

Mumbai, 4 February 2026: Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has entered into a formal collaboration with IPE Global Limited to strengthen a gender responsive and future ready skilling approach aimed at improving employment outcomes for young women across India.
The partnership was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and focuses on reshaping programme design, increasing women’s participation in aspirational job roles, and building stronger linkages between skilling initiatives, employability pathways, and inclusive economic growth.

Speaking on the occasion, Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary at the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said women’s skilling is central to India’s workforce transformation and inclusive growth agenda. She said the collaboration reflects a commitment to creating an enabling ecosystem where young women, particularly from underserved regions, can access dignified employment opportunities supported by relevant skills and institutional backing.
The collaboration will focus on evidence based and gender responsive interventions aimed at improving women’s participation and outcomes within skill development programmes. Priority areas include addressing structural barriers to entry, aligning training curricula with industry demand, and strengthening placement and transition pathways through deeper private sector engagement.

As part of the initiative, the partners will also roll out a multilingual national awareness campaign to encourage women’s participation in skilling and formal employment. Employer engagement will be enhanced through gender inclusive hiring commitments, while monitoring and evaluation systems will be strengthened to support data driven governance and outcome tracking.
The initiative will additionally reinforce MSDE’s targeted skilling efforts for adolescent girls, with the objective of building early exposure to employability oriented skills and creating more inclusive, future ready skilling models.
According to MSDE, the collaboration is intended to move women’s skilling beyond enrolment metrics toward measurable employment outcomes, ensuring that skill development translates into sustained workforce participation and economic agency for women.
