ICAI lays foundation for its new Hyderabad Branch building as leadership outlines plans for expanded professional infrastructure

President Charanjot Singh Nanda, Vice President Prasanna Kumar D, CA Dayaniwas Sharma, CA Muppala Sridhar and the full ICAI council joined members in Hyderabad to mark the Bhoomi Pooja for the upcoming facility that will support training, student development and community outreach.

ICAI laid the foundation for a major infrastructure expansion in Hyderabad with the Bhoomi Pooja of its upcoming branch building, marking a significant step in strengthening the Institute’s presence in one of the country’s fastest-growing professional hubs. The ceremony was attended by President Charanjot Singh Nanda, Vice President Prasanna Kumar D, CA Dayaniwas Sharma, CA Muppala Sridhar and senior members of the Central and Regional Councils, who together emphasised the need for modern, technology-enabled facilities to meet the growing aspirations of members and students.

The Institute noted that the profession’s rapid expansion has intensified the need for larger, better-equipped and future-ready centres across India. The Hyderabad Branch, which serves an active base of students, young professionals and experienced chartered accountants, will gain a dedicated space designed for training, knowledge sessions, examinations, capacity building and academic development. The new building will also support ICAI’s wider engagement with industry and society, creating an accessible platform for learning, collaboration and professional advancement.

Speaking at the event, ICAI President CA Charanjot Singh Nanda said that robust institutional infrastructure is central to nurturing excellence within the profession. He added that new branch buildings will act as anchors for training and student development, offering members a conducive environment to sharpen their skills and participate actively in the Institute’s programs. Vice President CA Prasanna Kumar D highlighted that ICAI has consistently invested in modern facilities across the country to create a seamless ecosystem for learning and member services, and the new Hyderabad building would significantly enhance outreach efforts in the region.

The leaders of the branch’s Infrastructure Committee also underlined the importance of the project. CA Dayaniwas Sharma, Chairman of the committee, said that the existing facilities were no longer adequate for the rapidly expanding professional base in Hyderabad. He noted that the new building will give the branch the space and resources needed to host larger programmes, accommodate student requirements and create an environment suited to professional excellence. CA Muppala Sridhar, Vice Chairman of the committee, added that the upcoming building has been planned with the student community at its core, offering modern classrooms, improved learning facilities and an ambience designed to enhance academic preparedness throughout the CA journey.

Branch Chairman CA Chinna Sitarami Reddy welcomed the leadership and community members with a message of pride, noting that the Bhoomi Pooja marks a key milestone for the branch’s growth. Vice Chairman CA Girdhari Lal Toshniwal delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the support and guidance of ICAI’s national and regional leaders.
ICAI continues to expand one of the strongest professional infrastructure networks in the country, which includes regional councils, branch buildings, auditoriums, IT centres, reading rooms, Centres of Excellence in Jaipur, Hyderabad and Kolkata, and specialised forensic and data analytics labs. With more than 14.5 lakh members and students, ICAI remains the world’s largest accounting body and continues to invest in infrastructure that supports the next generation of chartered accountants.

The upcoming Hyderabad Branch building is expected to strengthen ICAI’s ability to deliver high-quality academic, examination and training programmes, reinforce professional standards and deepen engagement with the community. The Institute reaffirmed that infrastructure development will remain a priority as it prepares the profession for a rapidly evolving global landscape.
