Founder and Managing Director of Crescendo Global, a mid to senior recruitment firm specialising in BFSI, Technology, Analytics, and GCC hiring across India and the USA, Raghav Choudhary explains why the ability to contribute to business revenue is becoming an increasingly important measure of career resilience.
India’s workforce has crossed 148 crore people, and according to Raghav Choudhary, Founder and Managing Director of Crescendo Global, this scale is quietly changing how organisations define career security.
In his latest industry perspective, Choudhary says that an expanding talent pool, combined with automation and changing economic conditions, is making traditionally secure roles increasingly competitive. He believes that professionals can no longer rely solely on qualifications, experience or job titles to remain indispensable.
According to Choudhary, roles built around repetitive and process driven work are likely to experience the greatest pressure. Functions such as physical labour, back office processing, data entry and routine customer service are becoming more vulnerable as automation and artificial intelligence continue to advance.
He argues that the one organisational function that consistently withstands restructuring is revenue generation. While sales is the most obvious example, Choudhary says the principle extends much further. Marketing that generates qualified business opportunities, finance that protects margins and controls expenditure, and human resources that retains high performing talent all contribute to commercial outcomes when their impact can be clearly demonstrated.
Choudhary believes the central question organisations increasingly ask is whether an employee’s work has a measurable influence on revenue entering or remaining within the business. Professionals who can establish that connection are often more valuable during periods of economic uncertainty and organisational restructuring.
He also points out that budget allocation during business slowdowns often reflects this reality. Marketing expenditure is frequently reviewed, hiring may slow and operational costs may be reduced, while revenue generating functions generally receive greater protection because of their direct influence on business performance.
Performance evaluation is also changing, according to Choudhary. Rather than focusing primarily on hours worked, responsibilities handled or years of service, organisations are placing greater emphasis on measurable contribution and commercial outcomes.
He suggests that professionals across every function should be able to explain, in simple business terms, how their work contributes to revenue growth, cost efficiency or long term organisational performance. He believes this ability is becoming an increasingly important factor in career progression and retention.
Concluding his perspective, Choudhary says that as India’s talent pool continues to expand, revenue contribution is emerging as one of the strongest differentiators for professionals seeking long term career resilience.
