The M1xchange Festive Insights Report highlights more than 100% growth in micro enterprise financing, rising daily credit demand and increased festive activity across consumer durables, chemicals, FMCG, electronic retail and paints.
Festive financing volumes on M1xchange crossed ₹20,000 crore in 2026, marking a 33% increase from ₹15,000 crore in 2025, according to the latest Festive Insights Report released by the RBI licensed Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) platform.
The report indicates growing demand for formal working capital among micro, small and medium enterprises as businesses prepare inventory, manage supplier payments and respond to increased consumer demand during the festive shopping season.
One of the key findings is the increasing participation of micro enterprises in formal invoice discounting.
According to the report, financing for the micro MSME segment grew by more than 100% year on year, reaching approximately ₹3,000 crore during the 2025 festive period.
The growth points to increasing adoption of formal receivables financing among smaller businesses that traditionally face challenges accessing timely working capital.
Invoice discounting allows eligible businesses to obtain financing against outstanding invoices instead of waiting for customers to complete their payment cycles.
For suppliers operating during periods of higher seasonal demand, access to funds against unpaid invoices can help manage production, inventory purchases and operational expenses.
The report also recorded an increase of more than 40% in average daily festive financing compared with the previous year.
M1xchange expects overall festive season financing to grow by approximately 30% in 2026.
As of October 28, 2026, financing throughput during the current festive period had reached approximately ₹20,000 crore, exceeding the entire previous festive season volume while some peak activity remained.
Sundeep Mohindru, Founder and Promoter of M1xchange, said, “The festive season is a key period for Indian retail and manufacturing, but it has always created severe working capital challenges for smaller suppliers who must manufacture and deliver goods months before payments are realized. While our TReDS data shows this year is a structural shift: Micro and small enterprises are no longer letting delayed payments restrict their seasonal growth.
The 100% surge in Micro-MSME financing is a testimony to the democratization of formal credit. By turning unpaid invoices into instant working capital, TReDS is enabling grassroots businesses to aggressively stock up, scale operations, and seamlessly integrate into national supply chains during peak consumption windows.”
The report also examined sectoral invoicing trends across the festive periods from 2023 to 2025.
Consumer Durables recorded an average festive invoicing increase of 28% compared with the corresponding period before the festive season.
Chemicals followed with a 27% increase, while FMCG recorded 20% and Metals and Mining registered 19%.
These figures indicate increased invoicing activity across industries associated with consumer demand, inventory replenishment and seasonal manufacturing requirements.
Emerging sectors also contributed to the changing financing pattern.
Electronic retail and electronic commerce recorded growth exceeding 100%, while the Paints sector registered a substantial increase in festive activity.
However, the report noted that the increase in Paints should be considered against its smaller initial base.
The sectoral findings suggest that festive working capital demand is extending across both established manufacturing industries and newer distribution channels.
The report also draws attention to the role of formal invoice discounting in helping smaller suppliers participate in larger supply chains.
For MSMEs, delayed payments can create a gap between fulfilling orders and receiving funds. Access to receivables financing can help address this timing difference and support continued operations during periods of higher demand.
The increase in financing volumes reported by M1xchange reflects growing use of its TReDS platform during the festive period.
With overall financing already exceeding the previous year volume by October 28, the report points to continued demand for formal working capital among businesses serving India’s seasonal consumption market.
