The SUV arrives with a new K3 platform, a thirty inch panoramic display, Level Two ADAS and booking availability from eleven December across India
The global premiere of the All New Kia Seltos in India signals a defining moment for the brand’s mid size SUV strategy. Led by Gwanggu Lee, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kia India, the introduction of the new generation Kia Seltos reflects an ambition to strengthen category leadership with a substantial shift in design, technology and safety. The decision to stage the global debut in India underlines the significance of the market, which continues to shape the company’s product and platform development.
Kia describes the new Kia Seltos as more than a routine generation update. It carries a broader intent to reset benchmarks for the segment through redesigned proportions, an expanded feature suite and a new platform that makes its India debut. Bookings open nationwide on eleven December with an initial amount of twenty five thousand rupees, giving customers the opportunity to secure early allocations ahead of the price announcement scheduled for two January.
Gwanggu Lee noted that the new Kia Seltos represents a clear step forward in the brand’s long term plan for India. He explained that the model has been engineered to respond to real world driving conditions and customer expectations across the country while maintaining the global standards associated with the Kia identity. He added that the Kia Seltos has played a central role in shaping perceptions of the brand in India and the latest version aims to carry that position into the coming years.
The most visible shift is in the scale of the new design. The Kia Seltos now measures four thousand four hundred and sixty millimetres in length and one thousand eight hundred and thirty millimetres in width, giving it the longest footprint in its category. The wheelbase of two thousand six hundred and ninety millimetres further contributes to cabin space and driving stability. The new proportions are supported through exterior revisions that include the Digital Tiger Face, Ice Cube projection headlamps, a connected tail lamp structure, larger alloy wheels and a refreshed silhouette shaped to reflect the Opposites United design language.
Inside the cabin, Kia has focused its efforts on a premium layout with clean surfaces and improved ergonomics. The centrepiece is the thirty inch panoramic display panel that combines the digital cluster and infotainment touchscreen into one continuous layout. The interiors feature a black and white palette with leatherette seats, a dual tone steering wheel and ambient lighting that supports a wide range of colour settings. Comfort features include a ten way power driver seat with power lumbar support, ventilated front seats, memory linked settings for the driver and exterior mirrors, and a welcome function that adjusts the seat for easy ingress and egress.
The new Kia Seltos also attempts to create a more immersive passenger experience through a premium audio system from Bose with eight speakers and upgraded connectivity. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, over the air software updates and the next generation Kia Connect suite extend digital enhancements beyond the initial ownership stage. Passengers in the second row benefit from a recline function, sunshade curtains and USB type C ports at both ends of the cabin.
One of the most substantive upgrades arrives through the move to Kia’s global K3 platform. This is the first time the architecture is being introduced in India and Kia states that it improves structural strength, crash protection and ride refinement. The new Kia Seltos integrates a package of twenty four standard safety features that include six airbags, electronic stability control, anti lock braking, hill start assist and a rear occupant alert. The inclusion of Level Two ADAS with twenty one functions adds a technology led layer of driver support with features such as forward collision avoidance, lane keeping assist and smart cruise control with stop and go capability. The addition of a blind view monitor, a three hundred and sixty degree camera system and side parking sensors gives the model a wider scope of support for everyday driving.
The new Kia Seltos carries three engine options. The Smartstream G1.5 petrol develops one hundred and fifteen PS with one hundred and forty four Nm of torque. The Smartstream G1.5 turbo petrol produces one hundred and sixty PS with two hundred and fifty three Nm. The 1.5 litre diesel variant with variable geometry turbocharging produces one hundred and sixteen PS with two hundred and fifty Nm. Transmission choices include a six speed manual, six speed intelligent manual, an IVT, a seven speed dual clutch automatic and a six speed torque converter automatic. These combinations allow customers to select a configuration aligned with their preferred driving style.
The trim structure for the new Kia Seltos includes HTE, HTK, HTX and GTX, supported by option packs that offer additional comfort, technology, ADAS or design elements. The X Line pack is available exclusively with the GTX range and introduces a distinctive visual identity for customers seeking an elevated look. Kia states that the intent behind the configuration structure is to give buyers a wider range of choices without compromising on the core package of safety and comfort.
The model has been developed at Kia’s integrated manufacturing facility in Anantapur, which continues to serve as the primary site for mid size SUV production. The launch positions Kia India to advance its intentions within a segment that has grown steadily over the last three years and is expected to play a central role in overall market demand through 2026.
With the price disclosure planned for two January, Kia aims to begin the year with momentum driven by the new Kia Seltos and the accompanying interest in the refreshed design and safety architecture. The company expects the SUV to appeal to drivers who prioritise a balance of performance, comfort, safety and technology in daily use.
