A Malayalam action spectacle goes global as Shemaroo Entertainment joins hands with Reel World Entertainment

Nishith Varshneya of Shemaroo Entertainment and producer Shihan Shoukath discuss the worldwide distribution of Chatha Pacha The Ring of Rowdies

Mumbai, January 2026: A large-scale Malayalam action entertainer is set for a global theatrical rollout as Shemaroo Entertainment partners with Reel World Entertainment for the worldwide distribution of Chatha Pacha The Ring of Rowdies. The film, produced by Shihan Shoukath, is scheduled for a theatrical release on 22 January 2026 across India and international markets.
The partnership marks Shemaroo Entertainment’s continued expansion into large-format regional cinema, with a focus on stories designed to travel beyond linguistic boundaries. Chatha Pacha The Ring of Rowdies positions itself as a first-of-its-kind Malayalam film that blends sports entertainment with mainstream storytelling, drawing inspiration from professional wrestling formats while remaining rooted in emotional narrative.

Commenting on the collaboration, Nishith Varshneya, Head of International Business and India Digital Syndication at Shemaroo Entertainment, said the film stood out for its scale and ambition. He noted that the project combines mass appeal with strong emotional undercurrents, making it suitable for audiences both within India and overseas. According to him, the partnership aligns with Shemaroo’s focus on presenting stories with universal resonance while remaining audience-first.
Producer Shihan Shoukath described the film as a passion project aimed at pushing the boundaries of Malayalam cinema. He said the intent was to create a sports-entertainment spectacle without compromising on storytelling depth. Partnering with Shemaroo Entertainment, he added, provides the film with the scale, distribution strength, and confidence required to reach viewers across diverse markets and cultures.

Directed by Adhvaith Nayar, the film follows a group of ex-convicts who come together to form an underground wrestling club. Set against the backdrop of Fort Kochi, the narrative explores intense rivalries, public attention, and confrontations with the law, while charting a deeper journey of identity, loyalty, and redemption. The wrestling ring functions as a metaphorical arena where themes of survival, pride, and second chances intersect.
Adding to the film’s cross-market appeal is its music, composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy, marking the trio’s first Malayalam project. The ensemble cast includes Mammootty in a special role, alongside Vishakh Nair, Arjun Ashokan, Ishan Shoukath, Roshan Mathew, and Carmen Mathew.

With its blend of sports spectacle, ensemble performances, and emotional storytelling, Chatha Pacha The Ring of Rowdies represents a new direction in mainstream Malayalam cinema and signals growing confidence in regional films finding audiences on a global stage.
