In front of a full house at HMA’s MDP session, Suresh Kochattil led a deep dive with M. Raghunatha Chary into career detours, digital shifts, and personal reinvention.

At a time when professionals across industries are facing complex questions about work, identity, and growth, the Hyderabad Management Association (HMA) hosted a meaningful Management Development Program (MDP) at Hyderabad Gymkhana. The event marked the launch of Career Chronicles, the latest book by author and professional advisor M. Raghunatha Chary.
The session brought together professionals, students, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers into a shared space to explore how today’s career choices are being shaped by new-age demands, including AI, industry volatility, and evolving human aspirations.

HMA President Alwala Devender Reddy opened the session by reinforcing the Association’s 60-year commitment to building leadership through learning. Referring to recent reading studies, he shared that Indian readers now spend over 352 hours per year with books, averaging more than 16 titles annually. India is not only a reading nation but also a thinking nation,” he said. He applauded the author for presenting a work that speaks directly to young professionals navigating disruption, calling the book both “a compass and a companion.
One of the most anticipated moments of the evening was a featured conversation between senior journalist Suresh Kochattil and M. Raghunatha Chary. This engaging segment focused on real-world dilemmas around career timing, transitions, and reinvention. From navigating layoffs and cross-industry moves to responding to emerging trends like gig work and hybrid roles, the dialogue tapped into themes that echo across professions.

M. Raghunatha Chary emphasized that Career Chronicles is not a success blueprint but an invitation to pause and reflect. “This is a conversation with reality. With fear. With ambition. With detours,” he said, adding that the book draws from true stories across industries.
The event also featured three in-depth speaker sessions, each of which added fresh context to the book’s ideas.

V. Srinivasa Rao (VSR), a prominent figure in India’s digital transformation movement, discussed the emergence of digital-first professionals. He explained how automation, data intelligence, and remote work are challenging conventional job descriptions and forcing a rethink of professional value across experience levels.
Vemuganti Ramesh delivered a session on Change Management in the Age of AI. He introduced a dual-framework approach one for organizations, and one for individuals. Both offered a way to understand how AI should be used not to replace human talent, but to reframe it. AI is not the problem,” he said. “Our resistance to adapting is.

Chirag Solanki, Convenor of the MDP Program, closed the speaker series with a note on relevance. “This is more than bound pages. This is a structured dialogue with uncertainty, courage, and the future of work,” he said.
Career Chronicles is structured around real-life dilemmas faced by today’s professionals whether to stay or move, whether to start over or reshape their existing path, and how to define success when roles shift faster than personal goals. The book compiles voices from freelancers, corporate survivors, entrepreneurs, and return-to-work professionals. Each section is designed with both reflection prompts and narrative context, making the book usable in both personal and professional learning spaces.

The book’s release comes at a time when the boundaries between employment and entrepreneurship are blurring. With more individuals navigating hybrid careers, temporary contracts, and non-linear job timelines, the book captures this reality without romanticizing burnout or struggle. Instead, it offers clarity and perspective, packaged in storytelling.
Launched through the Hyderabad Management Association, Career Chronicles benefits from being tied to a platform known for cross-sectoral credibility. HMA has long built bridges between industry, academia, and civic leadership. The book, therefore, finds its place not as an isolated publication, but as part of an ongoing conversation on workforce evolution.

The MDP concluded with a networking segment where attendees discussed how the book and speaker themes mirrored their own journeys. From mid-career professionals to fresh graduates, attendees shared that the day’s sessions helped them contextualize their next career steps.
Career Chronicles is now available through select academic institutions, professional circles, and curated learning platforms. Wider availability through public and digital networks is expected in the coming weeks.
HMA will continue to host forums on leadership, change, and workforce transformation through its ongoing 2025 calendar. More details are available on the official Hyderabad Management Association website.
