With just 16 charging stops, TATA.ev’s SUV Coupe completes the fastest all-electric drive across India, covering 3,823KM in 76 hours and 35 minutes, proving that EVs are now as efficient as ICE vehicles for highway travel.
TATA.ev has once again raised the bar for electric mobility in India with the Curvv.ev completing the country’s fastest all-electric drive from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in just 76 hours and 35 minutes. This record-breaking journey, which outpaced the previous best by 19 hours, highlights the massive strides in India’s EV infrastructure while proving that long-distance EV travel is not only possible but also highly efficient.
The Curvv.ev covered 3,823 kilometers across 10 states and union territories and required only 16 charging stops along the way. The significant reduction in charging time from 28 hours in previous attempts to just 17 hours showcases how advanced battery technology and an expanding fast-charging network are transforming the EV experience. With an 85 kmph cruising speed, a 55 kWh battery, and TATA.ev’s acti.ev architecture, the Curvv.ev delivered a smooth, fatigue-free journey, demonstrating that EVs are now a legitimate alternative to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles for long road trips.
The expedition was flagged off from Srinagar at 4:00 AM on February 25, 2025, by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Mr. Omar Abdullah, and the SUV coupe navigated through diverse weather conditions and varying terrains, stopping only for planned fast-charging sessions. It reached Kanyakumari at 8:35 AM on February 28, 2025, where it was received by Thiru. Vijay Vasanth, Member of Parliament, Kanyakumari. Throughout the journey, the Curvv.ev showcased the reliability of India’s fast-growing EV charging ecosystem, reducing the gap between EV and ICE travel times and eliminating range anxiety.
The rapid expansion of India’s EV infrastructure played a crucial role in this achievement. Since TATA.ev’s previous record drive with the Nexon EV MAX in 2023, the number of fast chargers in India has increased by 227%, allowing for a more optimized and direct travel route. In 2023, the lack of adequate charging infrastructure forced EVs to take a 4,004-kilometer route, but for this record run, the Curvv.ev managed to cut the distance to 3,823 kilometers, thanks to a more widespread and reliable fast-charging network. The increase in high-speed 60–120 kW chargers along highways ensured faster charging sessions, reducing downtime and making long-distance EV travel seamless.
Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., emphasized that the Curvv.ev’s successful journey proves that EVs can match and even surpass ICE vehicles on highway trips. He noted that the availability of over 18,000 charging stations, combined with intelligent battery management and efficient aerodynamics, allowed the Curvv.ev to cover approximately 1,200 kilometers per day with ease. He added that features such as the iRA.ev app, which maps over 12,000 charging points and provides real-time vehicle insights, and the .ev Verified Charger program, which rates charging stations based on reliability and amenities, ensured a predictable and stress-free driving experience. The introduction of the TATA.ev Unified RFID card also simplified the charging process, enabling seamless access to multiple charging networks without needing an internet connection.
The Curvv.ev’s journey reinforces the fact that India’s EV ecosystem is evolving rapidly, with over 85% of national highways now featuring a fast charger every 50 kilometers. The combination of faster charging speeds, improved infrastructure, and advanced vehicle technology has effectively closed the gap between EVs and traditional fuel-powered cars for long-distance travel.
This achievement is more than just a record—it is a bold statement about the future of electric mobility in India. The Curvv.ev proves that EV ownership is no longer limited to city commutes but is now a practical choice for intercity and cross-country travel. With increased range, improved efficiency, and the convenience of a well-connected charging network, EV drivers can now experience road trips without the concerns that once made them hesitant to switch.
Following this milestone, the Curvv.ev is now available for purchase at Tata Motors dealerships and through the TATA.ev online store, with a starting price of ₹17.49 lakh. With this achievement, TATA.ev is not only pushing boundaries in electric vehicle performance but also redefining what is possible for EV adoption in India.
