Karunya Institute and ECE France Sign Agreement to Launch Pathway Programmes in AI and Emerging Technologies

The new agreement allows Indian students to complete Bachelor’s degrees in Coimbatore and pursue advanced technical education in France

ECE Engineering School, part of the OMNES Education Group in France, has signed a new international education partnership with Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, a private university based in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The collaboration enables Indian students enrolled at Karunya to complete their undergraduate programmes in India and transition directly into second-year Master’s degree programmes at ECE France in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data, Cybersecurity, and Sustainable Energy.

The formal agreement was signed during a visit by Karunya’s delegation to ECE’s campus in Paris on September 4, 2025. The visiting delegation included Prof. Dr. Elijah Blessing Rajsingh, Vice Chancellor of Karunya Institute; Dr. J. Dinesh Peter, Head of International Relations; and Dr. Merlin Gilbert Raj S, International Relations Coordinator. The signing was hosted by Dr. François Stephan, Executive Director of ECE, alongside Ana Barbaric, Head of International Relations.

The partnership has been structured on two levels. The first involves semester-long exchange programmes for students at both the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. Each year, up to ten ECE students will have the opportunity to complete a semester at Karunya, while two Karunya students will study in France in areas related to digital engineering. This bilateral exchange model offers exposure to diverse teaching methods, cross-border teamwork, and new research environments.

The second and more significant element is the creation of Pathway Programmes. Under this structure, Karunya students can complete their full undergraduate programme in India and directly enrol into the second year of a Master’s programme at ECE France. These pathway options are designed specifically for disciplines with rising global demand including Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Sustainable Energy Systems. Tuition for these advanced degrees will be offered at a reduced rate to students enrolled through this formalised academic bridge.

ECE Engineering School is recognised for its applied, innovation-led programmes in future-facing technical domains. Part of the OMNES Education Group, the school has campuses in Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Rennes, and Abidjan, offering a connected international experience to more than 4,300 students. ECE’s academic model combines technical rigour with business understanding and emphasises real-world learning through projects and partnerships. The institution’s global outlook includes 142 partner universities and a graduate employment rate of 100% within six months of completion. ECE Engineering School

Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, established in 1986, is recognised as a Category-I institution by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India, and holds an NAAC A++ accreditation. The university operates 18 academic departments and serves more than 8,400 students. It offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in engineering, science, management, agriculture, and health sciences. The institution is known for its mission-driven academic approach, focusing on areas such as Water, Food, Healthcare, Energy, and Sustainable Development. Karunya Institute

This partnership reflects our commitment to strengthening academic ties with India,” said Ana Barbaric, Head of International Relations at ECE. “It will allow students to immerse themselves in new environments and gain international perspectives that are essential for tomorrow’s engineers.
Dr. Dinesh Peter, Head of International Relations at Karunya, added: We are delighted to partner with ECE, one of France’s most forward-looking engineering schools. This collaboration will give our students valuable international exposure and access to expertise in areas that are shaping the future of technology.

The agreement aligns with a broader shift in higher education, where students seek both global qualifications and practical, domain-specific expertise. For Indian students, this model opens access to international campuses without the full cost or commitment of a four-year overseas programme, while ECE benefits from a growing pool of academically trained candidates with strong technical foundations.
The collaboration underscores the growing academic and technological relationship between France and India, especially in areas tied to future global skills. With both institutions placing value on academic excellence, practical impact, and long-term employability, the partnership offers a new platform for mobility, skill-building, and global education access.
