Through its Pragati programme, the non profit has enabled adolescent girls and young women across four districts of Madhya Pradesh to rejoin education and appear for the MPSOS examinations.

Bhopal, July 7, 2026: Educate Girls is supporting 2,654 adolescent girls and young women across Madhya Pradesh as they appear for the Madhya Pradesh State Open School Education Board (MPSOS) Class 10 examinations after returning to education through its second chance Pragati programme.
The examinations, being conducted from July 6 to July 15, mark an important milestone for learners who had previously dropped out of school due to social, economic and personal challenges. For many, the board examinations represent an opportunity to resume their education, pursue higher studies and work towards greater financial independence.

The Pragati programme focuses on adolescent girls and young women between the ages of 15 and 29 who have discontinued their education. Through flexible learning pathways, community mobilisation and academic support, the initiative enables them to re enter the formal education system through the Madhya Pradesh State Open School Education Board.
The programme is currently being implemented in Dhar, Barwani, Khargone and Ujjain districts of Madhya Pradesh. Across these four districts, Educate Girls has identified, enrolled and prepared 2,654 learners to appear for the ongoing Class 10 board examinations.

Working with families, local communities, government departments and grassroots stakeholders, the organisation has helped learners overcome barriers that often prevent girls from continuing their education. Months of academic preparation, counselling and community engagement have contributed to their return to formal learning.
Sixteen year old Nikita from Ujjain, one of the Pragati learners appearing for the examinations, said the support she received during the preparation camps helped her approach the board exams with greater confidence.

“All the hard work I put in truly paid off in the examination. The learning I received during the preparation camp, along with the guidance and encouragement of the Educate Girls team, helped me prepare well. Today, I have more confidence in myself than ever before,” she said.
Dr. Ramakant Tiwari, Assistant Director, Madhya Pradesh State Open School Education Board, encouraged learners to remain confident and approach the examinations with dedication and thorough preparation.

Ranjeet Nath, State Lead, Educate Girls, Madhya Pradesh, said every learner appearing for the board examinations demonstrates that education can be restarted when the right support systems are in place.
“Every learner appearing for the MPSOS Class 10 board examinations is a reminder that no educational journey is beyond revival when young women are supported with the right opportunities. At Educate Girls, we believe every girl deserves the chance to complete her education and realise her potential. We wish all our learners the very best for their examinations and the future that lies ahead,” he said.
Educate Girls has been working with state governments and local communities since 2007 to identify out of school girls, improve school enrolment and strengthen foundational learning. Through its second chance education initiatives, the organisation also supports adolescent girls and young women in completing their secondary education while developing life skills and decision making abilities.
Powered by more than 55,000 community volunteers, Educate Girls has helped enrol over 2.2 million girls into schools and improved learning outcomes for more than 2.5 million children across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The organisation currently works in more than 31,500 villages and aims to empower 10 million learners by 2035.
