India secured the top position among 87 participating countries at the 56th International Physics Olympiad 2026 after all five members of the national team won gold medals, with four of the medals earned by classroom students from ALLEN Career Institute.
The International Physics Olympiad was held in Bucaramanga, Colombia, from 4 to 12 July 2026 and brought together 381 students from 87 countries. Kanishk Jain, Riddhesh Bendale, Rishit Garg and Swarit Joshi, all classroom students of ALLEN Career Institute, were part of the Indian contingent that contributed four of the country’s five gold medals.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian team through a post on X, appreciating the students for their outstanding achievement and acknowledging the enthusiasm of India’s youth towards science.
Congratulating the students, Nitin Kukreja, CEO, ALLEN Career Institute, said, “ALLEN students are delivering excellent results across all fields. It is heartening to see our students win four of India’s five gold medals at the first major international Olympiad of the year. These results reflect the country’s growing stature on the international stage.”

He added that ALLEN students have now won 188 medals, including 90 gold medals, across various official International Olympiads, reflecting the institute’s long standing contribution to competitive science education.
Selection for the International Physics Olympiad was conducted through a four stage national process. The National Standard Examination in Physics, conducted by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers, shortlisted 138 ALLEN students for the second stage. Following the Indian National Physics Olympiad, organised by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, 20 ALLEN students qualified for the Orientation Cum Selection Camp. From the final five member Indian team selected to represent the country, four students were from ALLEN Career Institute.

Kanishk Jain, a Class 12 student who secured All India Rank 8 in JEE Advanced 2026 and has been selected for admission to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said the academic guidance at ALLEN Kota played an important role in his preparation. He also described interacting with students from different countries during the Olympiad as a valuable learning experience.
Riddhesh Bendale, a Class 12 student who secured All India Rank 18 in JEE Advanced 2026 and will pursue Computer Science at IIT Bombay, said participating in the International Physics Olympiad gave him valuable learning opportunities and made him proud to represent India.
Rishit Garg, who secured All India Rank 109 in JEE Advanced 2026 and will join IIT Delhi for Computer Science, credited his preparation at ALLEN Kota for helping him perform across competitive examinations.
Swarit Joshi, currently a Class 11 student and a prospective JEE Advanced 2027 candidate, said beginning preparation early helps students build a stronger foundation for competitive success.
According to ALLEN Career Institute, its students have secured 188 medals in official International Olympiads, including 90 gold, 75 silver and 23 bronze medals across Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Earth Science, Astronomy and Junior Science Olympiads.
