Woxsen University awards degrees to 1,198 graduates at sixth convocation

Social psychologist Dr. Roy F. Baumeister received an Honorary Doctorate as Woxsen University celebrated graduates across seven schools and highlighted its research, academic and global partnership milestones.

Woxsen University conferred degrees on 1,198 undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral graduates during its sixth Annual Convocation, while honouring renowned social psychologist Dr. Roy F. Baumeister with an Honorary Doctorate for his contributions to psychology and human behaviour.
Held on 18 July in Hyderabad, the convocation brought together graduates from the School of Business, School of Technology, School of Arts and Design, School of Architecture and Planning, School of Science, School of Law, and School of Liberal Arts and Humanities.

Delivering the convocation address, Dr. Roy F. Baumeister, Professor Emeritus at The University of Queensland, encouraged graduates to embrace artificial intelligence while continuing to cultivate curiosity.
“Use AI but build your curiosity and articulate the wonders of the world,” he said, adding that adaptability would remain essential as the pace of change continues to accelerate.
Encouraging long term thinking, he advised graduates to always have a five year plan. “You can change the plan, but having a plan helps you orient towards a bigger future rather than living day to day,” he remarked.

Reflecting on India’s changing employment landscape, Dr. Baumeister observed that career paths are increasingly shaped by individuals rather than organisations. “Don’t just change jobs to get away from problems. If you move, move towards something better and exciting,” he said.
The convocation also marked the release of the Woxsen University Annual Report 2026 by Dr. V. J. Byra Reddy, Vice Chancellor, Woxsen University. The report highlighted the university’s academic and research progress, including more than 655 research publications, with 70 per cent published in Q1 and Q2 journals, and academic collaborations with over 190 universities worldwide.

The report also outlined recent academic developments, including the expansion of the Bachelor of Architecture intake from 40 to 80 seats, the introduction of a Bachelor of Science programme in Sports Science, the launch of a Master of Technology programme in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and a Master of Design programme in Product Design Innovation.
The university recognised outstanding academic performers across disciplines. Anthati Shivani topped the MBA Business Analytics programme, Korimi Meghana received the gold medal in Bachelor of Technology, Koukuntla Rishitha Reddy secured the gold medal in Bachelor of Business Administration Financial Services and received the highest placement offer from Warner Brothers Discovery, while Shreyasi Sar topped Bachelor of Commerce. Gold medals were also awarded to Kurinji V S in Fashion Design, M Janani in Architecture, Sofia Villamarin Rodriguez in Liberal Arts and Humanities, and Archi Tiwari in Science.
Among placement highlights, Sarah Hazel Philip from the MBA programme received the highest offer from Silicon Labs, Gaddam Srikesh Reddy from Bachelor of Technology was placed at Vivnovation, Pakeeru Sri Varsha from Interior Design joined Yula Construction, while Architecture graduates P Keerthi and K B Shivani secured placements with APS Property Solutions.
