120 Local Educators Join Tata Chemicals School Support Programme Across Okhamandal

Rino Raj, Vice President Manufacturing, India, Tata Chemicals Limited, said the programme will help sustain classroom learning while creating opportunities for local youth to contribute across government schools.

Government schools across Okhamandal will receive additional teaching support through 120 trained local education volunteers deployed under a School Support Programme introduced by Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development in partnership with the Coastal Salinity Prevention Cell.
The programme has been created to address teacher shortages and support continuity in classroom learning across primary and secondary schools in the block.
The 120 volunteers have been assigned across five areas of academic support.

Forty Primary School Volunteers will support government primary schools facing teacher shortages.
Another 44 Remedial Education Volunteers will focus on foundational literacy and numeracy.
Sixteen High School Educators will provide Mathematics and Science support for students in Classes 9 and 10.
Thirteen Re-enrolment and NIOS Instructors will work with out-of-school children and young people seeking to continue their education through the National Institute of Open Schooling.
Seven Academic Enhancement Educators will support wider learning activities across villages.

The programme was formally launched on August 4 at Sabras Bhavan in Mithapur.
The event was attended by Pabubha Virambha Manek, Member of the Legislative Assembly from Devbhumi Dwarka; Madhuben Bhatt, District Primary Education Officer; R. V. Odedra, Taluka Development Officer, Devbhumi Dwarka; Bharatbhai Karmata, Vice President, Dwarka Taluka Panchayat; Bhurabha Jadiya, Block Resource Centre Coordinator; Aashaben Parmar, Taluka Education Coordinator; and Rino Raj, Vice President Manufacturing, India, Tata Chemicals Limited.
Rino Raj said, Quality education is fundamental to long-term community development.

He said the partnership is intended to ensure that students continue receiving academic support while also creating opportunities for young people from local communities to participate in the education system.
We hope this initiative will strengthen schools and encourage more children to stay connected with education, Raj added.
The programme is being implemented by Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development, the social development arm of Tata Chemicals, along with the Coastal Salinity Prevention Cell.
TCSRD works across livelihoods, women’s empowerment, education, healthcare and sustainability, while CSPC works on coastal salinity, land and water resource management and rural livelihoods across coastal Gujarat.
