Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, said the programmes aim to prepare students for careers in policymaking, governance and public administration.
Lovely Professional University has introduced B.Sc. Public Policy and M.Sc. Public Policy programmes in collaboration with the Centre for Research in Schemes and Policies.
The programmes follow the Memorandum of Understanding signed between LPU and CRISP in November 2025. The initiative aims to connect academic learning with policy practice and governance experience.
The three year undergraduate programme and two year postgraduate programme are designed for students interested in careers in governance, public administration, development organisations, think tanks, NGOs, consulting and policy research.
The curriculum will cover policy analysis, governance, public administration, evidence based decision making, leadership development and policy design. Students will also engage with case studies, research projects, field exposure and interactions with policy practitioners.
Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor, Lovely Professional University, said, “Public policy is emerging as a critical field for addressing complex societal and governance challenges. Through these programmes, we aim to equip students with the knowledge, analytical skills, and practical exposure needed to contribute meaningfully to policymaking, public administration, and nation-building. Our collaboration with CRISP further strengthens this vision by bringing real-world expertise into the learning ecosystem.”
The programmes will be guided by an advisory panel that includes R. Subrahmanyam, former Secretary to the Government of India; Sitaram J. Kunte, former Chief Secretary of Maharashtra; Usha Sharma, former Chief Secretary of Rajasthan and former Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs; Dr. Vijay Raghavan, Project Lead at CRISP; K.S. Srinivas, former IAS officer and Deputy CEO of CRISP; and Radhey Shyam Julaniya, IAS Retd., Chairperson, Centre for Public Policy and Administrative Research, LPU.
The programmes will include mandatory internships and field exposure through engagements with government departments, policy institutions, development organisations, think tanks and research bodies.
LPU said the initiative is part of its broader focus on practical learning, industry engagement, research and applied education.
