The University of Leeds said the 12 month programme will prepare Indian students for pharmaceutical, biotech, regulatory and research careers, with applications open until July 31, 2026.
June 11, 2026: The University of Leeds has opened applications for its 12 month full time MSc in Drug Discovery and Development for Indian students.
The programme will begin in September 2026 and is designed to prepare students for careers in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries. It covers the full process of drug development, from early stage target identification and compound design to clinical testing, regulatory approval and commercialisation.
The course brings together chemistry, pharmacology, biomedical sciences and pharmaceutical business to give students a broad understanding of the modern drug development pipeline.
Students will be taught by academic experts and industry professionals. The programme also includes practical learning through a research project, allowing students to apply their knowledge in laboratory or industry focused settings.
Applicants must hold a first class or grade equivalent undergraduate degree in a relevant subject from a recognised Indian university. The application deadline is July 31, 2026.
For English language requirements, students need Standard XII English at 70 percent or 75 percent, depending on the state board, or IELTS 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in any component.
The tuition fee is £35,500, approximately INR 41,77,679.05. Indian students are eligible for £6,000 International Masters Regional Scholarships.
Students will also have access to the University of Leeds Global Industry Programme, which includes a two week virtual industry consultancy experience. The programme is designed to help students build industry connections and develop professional skills.
Graduates can pursue roles in pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, contract research organisations, government regulatory bodies and related sectors. The course also provides a foundation for further research degrees.
Students will receive support from the employability and opportunity team, along with a Master’s career development programme covering career planning, interview preparation and PhD applications.
