Sibabrata Das, Co-Founder and CEO of Atomberg Technologies, said the tool is designed to help households understand local water quality before choosing a purifier.

Atomberg Technologies has launched a free pincode level water quality tool to help Indian households assess local water conditions before buying a purifier.
The launch comes one year after Atomberg entered the water purifier category with Intellon. The company said the tool is intended to give consumers clearer information on local water quality, including TDS levels, seasonal changes, source type and possible contamination indicators.

For many households, water purifier purchases involve spending between ₹15,000 and ₹30,000, often without reliable information on whether an RO purifier, UV purifier or another option is suitable for their area.
Atomberg’s tool uses data from three sources: TDS readings from tens of thousands of Atomberg Intellon purifiers installed within a 5 km radius of the entered pincode, Jal Jeevan Mission monitoring stations within 5 km, and groundwater readings from the Central Ground Water Board and CPCB within 20 km.

The tool provides an estimated TDS range, seasonal movement over the past 12 months, microbial and chemical contamination indicators, household level variation in the neighbourhood, safety assessment against BIS acceptable limits and a suggested purification method.
The recommendation may not always be an RO purifier. Depending on the local water profile, the tool may suggest a simpler or lower cost purification method. Atomberg said the platform is free to use, does not require account creation and is not linked to a purchase process. Each recommendation also includes source details and links to the data used.

Sibabrata Das, Co-Founder and CEO, Atomberg Technologies, said, “A year ago, we set out to do more than sell water purifiers. We wanted to help people understand the water they drink and bring some transparency to a market that is largely fear-driven. Sometimes the right answer is a simple UV unit. Sometimes it is RO. And sometimes you do not need much at all. A lab test is still the best way to know your water. We have tried to build the second-best.”
Arindam Paul, Chief Business Officer, Atomberg Technologies, said, “We now have TDS data from tens of thousands of Intellon purifiers installed across India. Combined with government water quality datasets, that data becomes genuinely useful for consumers. For the first time, someone buying a water purifier can look at the actual water quality data for their pincode and not just what a salesperson at the store is incentivised to recommend.”
Atomberg said the dataset will become more detailed as more Intellon purifiers are installed across India. The company has also clarified that the tool provides a high confidence estimate and guidance based on multiple data sources, but is not a replacement for certified laboratory testing.
