Industry focused summer programmes gain traction as IIT Mandi introduces HIMSHIKHAR 2026

Prof Tushar Jain, Head of Centre for Continuing Education at IIT Mandi, said the two month residential programme will offer 190 hours of training across AI, data science and entrepreneurship tracks

Industry aligned learning programmes are gaining attention as institutions look to bridge the gap between academic education and real world skills, with IIT Mandi introducing a new residential initiative for students and young professionals.
The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, through its Centre for Continuing Education, has opened applications for HIMSHIKHAR 2026, a two month summer residential programme focused on emerging technologies and entrepreneurship.

The programme is designed to offer an immersive on campus experience where participants can work on real world projects under the guidance of faculty and industry mentors. It is structured across 190 hours of engagement, including 100 hours of faculty led sessions, 50 hours of tutorials conducted by PhD scholars, and 40 hours delivered by industry experts.
Participants can choose from five specialised tracks including software development with AI, artificial intelligence and machine learning, agentic AI systems, data science, and entrepreneurship and venture building.

Prof Tushar Jain, Head of the Centre for Continuing Education at IIT Mandi, said, “HIMSHIKHAR 2026 programme combines academic rigor, national skilling infrastructure, and outcome driven training for learners. Every module emphasises building, problem solving, and working with real tools, guided by practitioners, and faculty who understand industry demands.”
The programme is open to candidates who have completed Class 12 or an equivalent qualification. Applicants are required to complete an online application, followed by an entrance test assessing reasoning and analytical abilities. Shortlisted candidates will proceed through a counselling process before confirming admission.

Each track will offer 250 seats, taking the total intake to 1250 participants. The programme is scheduled to begin in May 2026, with reporting from May 16 and classes commencing from May 18.
Through this initiative, IIT Mandi aims to strengthen its focus on industry relevant training by equipping learners with skills aligned to emerging technology domains and innovation driven careers.
