B.K. Goenka, Founder of Welspun World, addressed 643 graduating students as IIT Mandi conferred degrees on 63 Ph.D. scholars, 259 postgraduates and 321 undergraduates.

IIT Mandi conferred degrees on 643 students at its 14th Convocation, held at the institute’s North Campus in Kamand Valley.
The graduating cohort included 63 Ph.D. scholars, 259 postgraduate students and 321 undergraduate students. The ceremony also marked the graduation of the largest B.Tech batch in IIT Mandi’s history.

B.K. Goenka, Founder of Welspun World, attended the ceremony as Chief Guest. Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, and Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi, attended as Guests of Honour. The ceremony was chaired by Lt. Gen. Retd. Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, VSM, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Mandi.
B.K. Goenka said, “Congratulations to the graduating class on this significant milestone. As you step into a rapidly changing world, I encourage you to embrace three values, joy, originality, and courage. Stay original in the age of artificial intelligence, have the courage to learn from failures, and never stop adapting. Knowledge today is only a button away; what truly matters is how you apply it. Knowledge must be complemented by courage and resilience to overcome every challenge. Remember, your time is India’s time, and the future of our nation will be shaped by your ideas, actions, and commitment.”

Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director of IIT Mandi, congratulated the graduating students and said the institute remains focused on research, innovation and future ready education.
“As our graduates embark on a new journey, I encourage them to use their knowledge, innovation, and determination to contribute towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Every challenge presents an opportunity to innovate and create meaningful solutions for society. At IIT Mandi, we remain committed to fostering excellence through cutting-edge research, innovation, and future-ready education. The Institute has recently strengthened its academic ecosystem by securing externally sponsored research projects worth nearly ₹100 crores and introducing new programmes, including becoming the first IIT in India to launch a B.Tech. programme in Quantum Science and Engineering, along with B.Tech. programmes in Agricultural Engineering with Data Analytics and Chemical Engineering with Data Analytics. I congratulate the graduating class of 2026 and wish them every success in shaping the future of our nation,” he said.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of Vayun Goel, who received the President of India Gold Medal and the Institute Gold Medal for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering.
Sukhvansh Jain received the Director’s Gold Medal for contributions in academics, leadership and development. Sneha Chandna received the Institute Gold Medal in B.Tech. Bioengineering, while Khushi Rewar received the Institute Gold Medal in B.Tech. Civil Engineering.
Other undergraduate Institute Gold Medal recipients included Bipanjit Singh in B.Tech. Data Science and Engineering, Akshar Agrawal in B.Tech. Electrical Engineering, Aridaman Singh Chauhan in B.Tech. Engineering Physics and Pranjal Vats in B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering.
Archita received the Rani Gonsalves Memorial Medal for performance in academics and co curricular activities. The NBCC Awards were presented to Khushi Rewar, Ojaswi Hemant Choudhary and Niharika Chauhan for performance in Civil Engineering.
Ananya Rai and Virani Devendrabhai Dineshbhai received the Institute Innovation Silver Medal for innovation and entrepreneurial work. Ekansh Verma received the Kiran Bala Arora Memorial Award.
Among postgraduate students, Institute Gold Medals were awarded to Sneha Vijayan for M.A. in Development Studies, Khushi Garg for MBA Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Kashish Chaudhary for M.Sc. Applied Mathematics, Preeti for M.Sc. Chemistry, Manav Gupta for M.Sc. Physics, Chikirsha Gulati for M.Tech. Biotechnology, Aayush Thakur for M.Tech. Power Electronics and Drives and Adarsh Arya for M.Tech. Structural Engineering.
The convocation brought together faculty members, parents, alumni and invited guests to mark the academic achievements of the graduating class.
IIT Mandi is located in Kamand Valley in Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the second generation Indian Institutes of Technology and an Institute of National Importance. The institute has been involved in more than 275 research and development projects worth over ₹120 crore since its inception and has signed memoranda of understanding with 11 international and 12 national universities over the past 10 years.
