Vikas Jain, Co-Founder, MiPhi, and Nilesh Khalkho, CEO, Sharaf DG, outline plans to introduce enterprise SSDs and AI storage solutions to the UAE market, with consumer storage and embedded memory identified as potential future areas.
MiPhi Semiconductors, the joint venture between India’s Micromax Informatics and Taiwan’s Phison Electronics, has entered into a distribution partnership with UAE electronics retailer Sharaf DG to expand its presence in the country’s technology market.
Under the agreement, Sharaf DG will support the distribution of MiPhi’s storage products in the UAE, providing the company with access to its regional network and customer relationships.
The partnership represents a step in MiPhi’s international expansion plans, with the initial focus placed on enterprise solid state drives (SSDs) and storage solutions designed for artificial intelligence applications.
The companies may subsequently explore opportunities in consumer storage products and embedded memory, depending on market requirements and the development of their relationship.
Focus on Enterprise and AI Storage
The collaboration is intended to address storage requirements associated with enterprise computing and the increasing use of artificial intelligence.
MiPhi brings together Phison Electronics’ experience in NAND flash technology with Micromax Informatics’ manufacturing capabilities and understanding of technology markets.
Sharaf DG will contribute its distribution network and knowledge of the UAE market.
The arrangement is expected to support MiPhi’s efforts to reach businesses and other customers seeking storage and memory technologies.
The companies have not disclosed financial terms, sales targets or a timetable for expanding into additional product categories.
MiPhi Highlights Changing Storage Requirements
Vikas Jain, Co-Founder, MiPhi, said the growing importance of data infrastructure is influencing the company’s international strategy.
“The next wave of technology growth will be defined not just by computing power, but by the infrastructure that enables data to move, scale and perform efficiently. As AI adoption accelerates, storage is becoming an increasingly critical part of the digital ecosystem,” Jain said.
He explained that MiPhi intends to combine the technological experience of Phison with Micromax’s manufacturing and market capabilities to address emerging storage requirements.
Jain added, “Our partnership with Sharaf DG represents an important step in taking these capabilities to international markets, beginning with the UAE.”
He described the agreement as the starting point for a longer business relationship, with opportunities across the wider storage and technology sector.
Sharaf DG Sees Enterprise Market Opportunities
Nilesh Khalkho, CEO, Sharaf DG, said the partnership is intended to address technology infrastructure requirements among businesses adopting digital systems and artificial intelligence.
“As businesses accelerate their digital transformation and explore the potential of artificial intelligence, access to dependable, high-performance technology infrastructure is becoming increasingly important,” Khalkho said.
He noted that the collaboration combines MiPhi’s storage capabilities with Sharaf DG’s experience in serving the UAE market.
“With an initial focus on enterprise and AI storage solutions, we see an opportunity to address evolving business requirements while expanding our technology portfolio,” he added.
The agreement will allow Sharaf DG to add MiPhi’s enterprise storage offerings to its distribution activities in the UAE.
Scope for Broader Product Distribution
Although enterprise SSDs and AI storage products will be the initial priorities, the companies have identified consumer storage and embedded memory as possible future categories.
Any expansion into those segments will depend on subsequent business decisions and market demand.
For MiPhi, the UAE partnership provides an international distribution arrangement through an established regional retailer.
For Sharaf DG, the collaboration adds a semiconductor and storage technology supplier to its business relationships.
The companies intend to explore additional opportunities as customer requirements and technology applications evolve.
The partnership places MiPhi’s international expansion efforts alongside its existing technology and manufacturing capabilities, with the UAE serving as the initial market for this distribution relationship.
