Ashoka University Vice Chancellor Somak Raychaudhury said the new facility will support a residential learning environment for its growing student community of over 3,000 students.

Former President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind visited Ashoka University and inaugurated a new student housing facility at the university’s North Campus.

The visit also included the planting of Rudraksha trees by Smt. Savita Kovind and Shri Ram Nath Kovind. He later toured the campus and reviewed Ashoka University’s research and digital resources, including the HDFC Library and Archives of Contemporary India.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Ram Nath Kovind said, “I have visited several educational institutions across the country, and I must say that Ashoka University stands out among the finest for its vision and world class infrastructure. As India works towards expanding access to quality education, it is equally important to nurture strong values and a deep sense of responsibility among the younger generation.”
He said these values were reflected in the leadership and ethos of the institution, adding that Ashoka University could play an important role in shaping capable individuals and responsible citizens.

The new student housing facility is part of Ashoka University’s long term plan to expand its fully residential campus ecosystem. The university currently has a student community of more than 3,000.
Professor Somak Raychaudhury, Vice Chancellor, Ashoka University, said, “It is a great honour for Ashoka University to have Shri Ram Nath Kovind ji inaugurate our newest student housing facility. His visit marks an important moment in the University’s journey as we continue to strengthen our campus infrastructure and create a vibrant residential environment that supports learning, collaboration, and holistic student development.”
Ashish Dhawan, Founding Chairperson, Board of Trustees, Ashoka University, said the university has grown from an ambitious idea into an institution focused on interdisciplinary learning, leadership, academic excellence and community living.

During the visit, Shri Ram Nath Kovind also interacted with senior faculty members and deans and discussed the role of private universities in providing strong academic environments, research infrastructure and opportunities for innovation.
Ashoka University was established in 2014 and offers education and research across natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. The university has over 20 Centres of Excellence and more than 47 percent of its students receive scholarships.
