Dr Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals, and Dr Roshan Reddy Nadikattu, founder of the Purple Ride initiative, highlighted the importance of routine screenings as more than 1,000 riders participated in the awareness rally.
Preventive healthcare awareness for women took centre stage in Hyderabad as the fourth edition of the Purple Ride motorcycle rally brought together motorcycling communities and healthcare professionals to encourage early health screening.
The rally, organised to mark International Women’s Day, was held in collaboration with Apollo Hospitals and attracted participation from more than 1,000 motorcyclists. Riders travelled through the city to promote awareness about the importance of preventive healthcare and routine medical screening for women.
Founded by Dr Roshan Reddy Nadikattu, the Purple Ride initiative aims to create conversations around women’s health and encourage timely diagnosis of lifestyle and chronic conditions. The rally began at Apollo Hospitals in Jubilee Hills and was flagged off by Dr Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals.
Participants rode through major city routes before concluding the rally at Apollo Hospitals in the Financial District. Riders wore white T shirts carrying the message Healthy Women Healthy Nation to highlight the importance of prioritising women’s health.
Addressing participants, Dr Sangita Reddy said women often focus on the wellbeing of their families while overlooking their own health needs. She emphasised that regular screening for conditions such as heart disease, breast and cervical cancers, diabetes and anaemia plays an important role in early detection and treatment.
Tejesvi Rao Veerepalli, Regional Chief Executive Officer of Apollo Hospitals for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, said the collaboration reflects the hospital group’s commitment to strengthening awareness around women’s preventive healthcare.
Doctors from Apollo Hospitals interacted with riders and volunteers at the concluding venue and shared information about lifestyle diseases, early diagnosis and the benefits of routine health check ups.
Participants included members of the Deccan Moto Collective, independent riders, riding clubs, healthcare professionals and volunteers who joined the rally to support awareness on women’s preventive health.
Over time, Purple Ride has developed into a multi city initiative that brings together motorcycling communities and healthcare institutions to promote conversations about women’s health and the importance of early screening.
