Bhanzu Launches India’s First Reality Show Style Math Championship

In partnership with NODWIN Gaming and Rusk Media, the nationwide competition for students in Grades 7 to 9 combines mathematics, entertainment and digital learning through a multi stage championship.

Bhanzu has partnered with NODWIN Gaming and Rusk Media to launch Math Bee, a nationwide mathematics championship that introduces a reality show format to academic competition for students in Grades 7, 8 and 9.
The initiative is designed to encourage greater interest in mathematics by combining competitive problem solving with storytelling, digital engagement and entertainment. The organisers describe Math Bee as India’s first large scale reality show style mathematics championship, offering students an opportunity to compete on a national platform.

Unlike conventional mathematics competitions, the championship places participants in a professionally produced over the top series where students will compete before celebrity hosts and judges. The format aims to present mathematical ability with the scale and visibility typically associated with sporting and entertainment events while encouraging logical thinking and creativity.
The competition is open to students across India studying in Grades 7 to 9 and is free to enter. Participants will begin by competing in nationwide digital qualifier rounds through Bhanzu’s MathUp App. The highest scoring students will advance to virtual bootcamps before qualifying for the televised championship.
The winner will be recognised as India’s first Math Bee Champion, while other finalists will also receive rewards based on their performance throughout the competition.

Through esports and live events, we have seen what happens when people come together to think on their feet and find a way forward when the obvious answer is not enough. Math Bee takes that thinking and puts it on a live stage, where students from across India can compete, solve problems in real time and show us how their minds work. Somewhere on that stage could be a future innovator, entrepreneur or problem solver who has simply not yet found the problem or platform that gets them going.”

The organisers said the championship has been developed to move beyond traditional examinations by rewarding logical reasoning, creativity, speed and the ability to solve problems under pressure. The initiative also aligns with Bhanzu’s objective of reducing mathematics anxiety while encouraging curiosity and confidence among young learners through technology enabled education.
The competition will begin with four nationwide digital qualifier rounds scheduled for 26 July, 2 August, 9 August and 16 August 2026. Students may participate in multiple rounds to improve their highest score and national ranking.
Following the qualifier stage, the top 500 participants will attend an exclusive virtual bootcamp led by Neelakantha Bhanu. From this group, the top 200 students will qualify for the televised Math Bee championship.

The initiative also offers schools an opportunity to gain national visibility by encouraging student participation. Schools whose students perform well during the competition will receive digital recognition, while selected participants will represent their institutions during the televised stages of the championship.
Registrations for Math Bee are currently open through the MathUp App on Android and iOS platforms.
