Nova IVF Opens Advanced Embryology Laboratory at Pune Centre

The new embryology laboratory at Nova IVF Fertility, Lullanagar, combines AI assisted assessment, electronic witnessing and continuous monitoring to enhance embryo safety and support IVF treatment outcomes.

Nova IVF Fertility has opened an advanced embryology laboratory at its Lullanagar centre in Pune, introducing technology and quality systems designed to improve embryo safety and support fertility treatment outcomes.
The facility has been developed in response to the growing demand for fertility care in India, where infertility affects nearly one in six couples. According to specialists, male factor infertility contributes to approximately 40 to 50 per cent of infertility cases, while an increasing number of women in their late twenties and early thirties are presenting with reduced egg quality, reflecting changing reproductive health patterns.

The embryology laboratory has been established to internationally accepted standards and is equipped with advanced incubators, AI assisted sperm and embryo assessment systems, RFID based electronic witnessing technology and continuous air quality monitoring. These technologies are designed to provide highly controlled conditions for embryo development while maintaining safety and precision throughout the IVF process.
Embryo quality plays a significant role in the success of fertility treatment, contributing to an estimated 40 to 60 per cent of IVF outcomes. The laboratory serves as the environment where eggs, sperm and embryos are nurtured during the most critical stages of treatment, making quality control and precision essential components of patient care.

The centre has also introduced multiple safety measures to reduce the risk of errors during treatment. RFID based electronic witnessing technology verifies every stage involving gametes and embryos, while continuous monitoring and quality control systems ensure that each procedure follows established protocols.
In addition to technological advancements, Nova IVF emphasises transparency throughout the treatment journey. Patients receive regular updates on embryo development, with every critical stage verified and documented. Dr. Rupali Tambe, Fertility Specialist, Nova IVF Fertility, Lullanagar, highlighted the role of laboratory precision through the case of a couple, identified as Meera and Rajesh to protect their privacy, aged 42 and 43 years, who sought treatment to conceive their second child after experiencing infertility.
She said the treatment involved a personalised IVF cycle in which the clinical team sought to use the couple’s own gametes wherever medically appropriate. The stimulation protocol and medication were individually planned based on the woman’s age and ovarian reserve.

Due to the woman’s advanced age, a single embryo was transferred to avoid risks during pregnancy.
