When India’s longest-running reality experiment returns on August 24, it brings with it not just a new season, but a new system. Bigg Boss 19, premiering on JioHotstar (9 PM) and airing on COLORS (10:30 PM), introduces a format twist even the show’s most seasoned fans didn’t see coming, Gharwalon Ki Sarkaar.
This year, the Bigg Boss house becomes a parliament. Housemates take decisions. They pass orders. They face backlash. In a show built on the illusion of control, this season threatens to give some of it away. But viewers know better, Bigg Boss doesn’t hand over power. He lets you think you have it. The trailer, unveiled by JioStar, places Salman Khan front and center, once again stepping in as host and referee. But the spotlight doesn’t stay with him for long. As the camera pans to the now Parliament-inspired house, a season of strategy and self-sabotage begins to brew.
Alok Jain, representing JioStar, described this as a new direction: “This isn’t just reality television. It’s unscripted democracy, with consequences.”
The show is set to stream 24×7 on JioHotstar, with live interactions, meme creation tools, chat features, and real-time voting. The “Jeeto Dhan Dhana Dhan” contest gives fans a chance to win prizes by answering in-show questions. A new meme feature allows viewers to recreate the chaos in their own tone, because if Bigg Boss has always been the conversation, this season, he becomes the content.

But legacy still matters. Bigg Boss isn’t just about who walks in now. It’s about who never walked out of our pop culture memory. From Rakhi Sawant, the original wildcard, to Rahul Roy, the show’s first quiet winner. From Gautam Gulati, who ruled with isolation, to Shilpa Shinde, who held silence like strategy.
