70 Government ITIs in Tamil Nadu to Receive Advanced Skill Centres Through Schneider Electric Partnership
Mumbai, October 30, 2026: Schneider Electric India Foundation (SEIF) has entered into a partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu to establish 70 advanced skill training centres across Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state.
The initiative aims to provide approximately 25,000 young people with access to technical training in electrical systems, energy technology and industrial automation.
According to the announcement, the first 30 centres were inaugurated on October 28, 2026, at the Government Industrial Training Institute in Guindy, Chennai, by C. Joseph Vijay, identified in the release as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

An agreement covering the establishment of another 40 centres was also exchanged between Schneider Electric India Foundation and the state government during the event.
The programme will be implemented through the Directorate of Employment and Training, Government of Tamil Nadu.
Focus on Electrical Technology and Industrial Automation
The planned centres will provide training infrastructure intended to support practical learning in electrical and industrial automation technologies.
The collaboration is designed to connect vocational education more closely with technical requirements in industries that use modern energy and automation systems.
The initiative covers 70 Government ITIs, with the first 30 centres inaugurated and the remaining 40 proposed under the agreement.

Once implemented across the planned institutions, the programme is expected to create training opportunities for approximately 25,000 young people.
The announcement does not specify a completion date for the additional centres or provide a breakdown of the expected trainee numbers by institute.

Deepak Sharma on Industry and Government Collaboration
Deepak Sharma, Zone President, Greater India, Managing Director and CEO, Schneider Electric India, said the initiative reflects the importance of cooperation between industry and government in technical education.
“We thank the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for inaugurating these skill centres and recognising the importance of industry-relevant skill development.”
He also highlighted the need to align vocational training with changing industry requirements.
“Building a future-ready workforce requires strong collaboration between industry and government.”

According to Sharma, the partnership will focus on training infrastructure, instructor development and relevant technical skills.
He added, “Through our partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu, we aim to strengthen vocational training infrastructure, build trainer capabilities and equip young people with relevant energy technology skills, bridging the gap between technical education and evolving industry requirements.“
Training Programmes to Include ITI Instructors
An important component of the collaboration is the training of instructors at all 70 participating ITIs.

Schneider Electric India Foundation will provide training to help instructors use the new facilities and deliver practical technical education.
The approach is intended to support the use of advanced training equipment and help instructors adapt their teaching to current industrial applications.
By including instructor development, the programme seeks to improve the delivery of technical education beyond the initial installation of training facilities.
The announcement does not provide details about the duration of the instructor training, individual course structures or certification arrangements.

Approximately 25,000 Youth Expected to Benefit
The initiative is expected to provide technical training opportunities for approximately 25,000 young people across Tamil Nadu.
The planned centres will focus on electrical and industrial automation skills relevant to sectors using energy management and automated industrial systems.
Access to practical training facilities may help students gain familiarity with equipment and applications used in technical workplaces.
However, the projected number of beneficiaries represents the programme’s stated objective rather than a completed training outcome.
No employment placement commitments or recruitment figures were disclosed in the announcement.
Partnership Through the State Training Directorate
The Directorate of Employment and Training, Government of Tamil Nadu, will serve as the implementation channel for the collaboration.
The initial inauguration of 30 centres and the agreement for 40 additional facilities form part of the same statewide programme.
The partnership combines public vocational training institutions with Schneider Electric India Foundation’s technical resources and instructor training support.
Its intended outcome is to improve access to technical learning in fields associated with electrical systems, industrial automation and energy technology.
