MAHE hosted the fourth edition of the UK India HealthTech Accelerator Programme, bringing together startups, healthcare experts and investors while promoting innovation and cross border collaboration.
The three day programme brought together 25 HealthTech startups with healthcare experts, investors and policymakers, with six startups set to receive a fully funded immersion visit to the United Kingdom.
Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) hosted the fourth edition of the UK India HealthTech Accelerator Programme, reaffirming its commitment to supporting healthcare innovation and strengthening collaboration between India and the United Kingdom.
Organised in partnership with the UK Government and supported by the Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster Foundation (BCKIC) as the Knowledge Partner, the three day programme was held from 22 to 24 July 2026. The initiative brought together HealthTech startups, healthcare specialists, researchers, investors, policymakers and industry leaders to encourage innovation and develop cross border partnerships in healthcare technology.
The accelerator featured 25 HealthTech startups from across India, providing them with opportunities to engage with experts from both countries while exploring solutions to healthcare challenges faced globally and within the United Kingdom’s National Health Service.
At the conclusion of the programme, six startups will be selected for a fully funded immersion visit to the United Kingdom. During the visit, participants will engage with the UK’s healthcare ecosystem, investors and National Health Service stakeholders to explore opportunities for collaboration and market expansion.
The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Dr H. S. Ballal, Pro Chancellor, MAHE, Dr Sharath K. Rao, Vice Chancellor, MAHE, Mr Chandru Iyer, British Deputy High Commissioner to Karnataka and British Deputy Trade Commissioner for Investment, South Asia, and Dr Mrutyunjay Suar, Chairman, Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster Foundation.
Speaking at the event, Chandru Iyer, British Deputy High Commissioner to Karnataka, said, “The MAHE accelerator has been three days of innovation in action, connecting Indian innovators with the UK’s healthcare, research, investment and innovation ecosystem to build international partnerships and expand their global footprint. With the recently implemented UK India Free Trade Agreement and Double Contribution Convention creating new opportunities for innovation led enterprises, cross border investments, professional mobility and deeper collaboration, this programme reflects the growing momentum in UK India economic and innovation partnerships.”
He also acknowledged MAHE’s continued efforts in promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and international collaboration while recognising the contribution of the Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster Foundation in strengthening the accelerator programme.
Since its launch, the UK India HealthTech Accelerator Programme has developed into a platform for bilateral healthcare innovation. Across its four editions, the initiative has received nearly 1,000 applications, supported more than 75 HealthTech companies and enabled tailored United Kingdom market immersion programmes for 23 startups.
The programme has also helped seven startups establish operations in the United Kingdom while generating approximately £32 million in investment activity. In addition, it has contributed to employment generation and encouraged long term international collaboration in healthcare innovation.
