Now in its third edition, the ESCP and Schneider Chair bridges academia and industry to build impactful digital strategies aligned with global climate goals
Schneider Electric and ESCP Business School have announced the renewal of their joint academic Chair, “Digital Transformation for Sustainable Impact”, marking the continuation of a collaboration that began in 2016. The third edition of this initiative was formally launched on September 11, 2025, solidifying their shared ambition to drive real-world sustainability outcomes through digital innovation.
The Chair, jointly led by Schneider Electric a French multinational known for sustainable energy management and automation and ESCP, one of Europe’s leading business schools, aims to bridge the worlds of academia and enterprise. It focuses on advancing applied research, pedagogical innovation, and corporate collaboration in the field of digital transformation with sustainability at its core.
Originally founded in 2016 as the Internet of Things (IoT) Chair, the partnership positioned ESCP as a pioneer in digital transformation studies within Europe. Over the past nine years, more than 300 students have been trained through dedicated coursework, teaching cases, academic research, industry-led collaborations, and immersive study tours.
In this new phase, the Chair extends its agenda to examine how digital tools can accelerate sustainable development across economies and organizations. Experiential learning takes centre stage, with the upcoming term set to expand learning expeditions and immersive initiatives across Europe. The initiative continues to nurture the next generation of globally minded leaders who are equipped to align business strategies with environmental and societal needs.
Schneider Electric’s strong presence in India with over 37,000 employees and 30 manufacturing sites makes the partnership particularly relevant for the region. ESCP’s connection with India is equally notable, with more than 600 Indian students enrolled across its campuses and eight active partnerships with Indian academic institutions.
Léon Laulusa, Dean and Executive President of ESCP, highlighted the shared ethos between the two institutions: “We are proud to continue this shared adventure, launched in 2016. Schneider Electric and ESCP follow the same compass and share the same convictions, summarized by these key words: Innovation. Internationalization. Inclusion. Diversity. Sustainability. Digitalization. Excellence.”
Xavier Demilly, Vice President of Business Transformation at Schneider Electric, reaffirmed the company’s direction, noting that the Chair remains an essential vehicle to make digital transformation an accelerator of more resource-efficient, resilient businesses.
As digital innovation continues to reshape global sustainability goals, the Schneider Electric and ESCP Chair will remain a reference point for developing talent, tools, and thought leadership at the intersection of technology and sustainability.
